I don't recommend filling pods until about 5-10 min until you play. It can be very hot and humid. These conditions can get to your paint, causing the paint to swell, dimple, or become "bouncy". This can cause your hopper to jam and cost you crucial shots due to the inaccuracy of the paint or because you bounce a player.

We don't have that problem up here in our nice HVAC controlled indoor fields

A tip I would give to people going into their first tournament is that, since it is pretty likely to me a 3-man, it is better to be conservative and make it to your bunkers on the breakout than to be too aggressive and get someone shot out right on the start. Just because there are only three of you, losing a man on the breakout is a reasonable disadvantage that you then have to play with for the whole game.

depends on the situation, what kind of player you are, and what format you're playing.

All depends on the situation, again. Best is to learn by example from your local teams!

Good advice. Being a new player to tourneys certainly helps with what I should expect.

NP man, have fun! The first tourny definitely feels like the biggest deal. Just stay calm, collective, and have a confident attitude! Let us know how you do

My local team tried to do the team paint plan, but their back player shot up all their paint. I think it might be a good idea to scale it a bit, make everyone buy at least one case for team paint, but make the back players maybe buy a half or maybe whole extra, since they use so much paint.

That's the whole point, everyone pays the same for paint so the back players aren't left with a bigger bill. If you need more paint, then buy more. It's not fair to have someone pay more because of their position, you'd be screwed without your back players.

This is a great idea. When you need more everyone can chip in an equal amount and then everyone is happy.

Fun Fact: Murphy's Law was actually based on tournament paintball. Things that have never broken before will break. Guns that have always worked will go down.
