Good thing we have a turf expert like you to help us identify it. it came from the nebraska cornhuskers stadium and has yard markings on it. Have you even played on it? Might wanna do a little better research before making a claim like that
This is what is called astroturf. Heres a little reading for yah too http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AstroTurf

I have not played there on this so called "turf"... but from the pictures this definitely appears to be similar to patio carpet, might be a little fluffier than the old carpet.

but in the pics the looks like this is what you have

.. Which round here we call patio carpet. Thats what we put out front of out trailers.

Turf looks similar to this....

Looks like you've only been exposed to one type of turf. There are hundreds of varieties... all ARTIFICIAL TURF, regardless of what style it is.

I believe I can solve the mystery of the turf!!!!! Simple minded folks should read carefully. I will try to type slow.

I, personally, have not seen the turf yet. I am assuming that it was rolled out over the existing floor. Did they take the carpet up, or is the turf over the top?

Did they build the sub-grade under the turf, or is it directly over the concrete?

I think the confusion is probably in the method of installation. When applied on a football/soccer/etc. field, the turf will have several layers of different material under it. In the good old days, they used layers of gravel, sand, dirt, and filter fabric. Later technology implemented the use of ground tires, also.

These layers provided two things. They were the drainage system to remove water and moisture. They also provided the 'cushion' under the turf. This was to act as a shock absorber and make it feel more 'real'. This layering is very expensive, and would only serve half of the purpose inside. Drainage shouldn't be an issue. I would guess that step was left out.

So, in closing, it is most likely 'turf'. Just not the same feel as you had in high school football due to the economics of its situation.

I give an attaboy to Ryan to trying to do something to show his customers he is re-investing. They originally wanted the floor covered. He did what he could afford and installed the carpet.

Then they complained about the air. He invested in a compressor.

Now he has invested in the floor again. While it may not be perfect, I'm sure most would agree it to be an upgrade. Keep chipping away, Ryan. Sounds like it's getting better all the time.

This is astroturf. Looks up pictures of astroturf, grumpy is 100% correct. this turf is low pile astroturf which is not used anymore which is why you probably don't have much experience with it. This turf had a very thick foam backing that we didn't use. The carpet was cleaned and the turf rolled out over it. The turf is not seamed because it has been rolled up for about 10 years and doesnt have heat in it yet to make it lay down completely. The seams will be done using mylar sheets and adhesive. The people who have actually played on it will agree this is just as good as any other turf you provided pictures of. We chose the low pile older style due to the ease of cleaning and of course cost. I don't know why I am wasting time explaining this since the people who come here know its good stuff and thats the people we really care about. Did I mention we are the only field within hundreds of miles with turf?

Fixed...

I did not want to start a war was simply saying it looks like patio carpet..and you wanna see real turf...wait 2 months... ill show you turf... within 178 miles...lol

So defensive this crowd... im glad you guys are making changes to cater to your players... paintball needs more fields like that..... wish I could have been playing on that 6 and 7 weeks ago.. instead i was out side freezing...

Without the padding what is the difference between the "turf" and the old carpet... besides it being green...?
