Question Is It Really Worth Getting an Electronic Hopper...

For a mechanical marker? Right now I have a VL-200 gravity hopper on my stock Minimag marker. So is it really worth getting an electronic hopper when I won't be getting off more than 5bps?

..... yes and no..... a simple agitating hoper would be helpful, just to stop from balls getting hung up.

On my guns, if it's semi auto I will ALWAYS use at least a basic agitated hopper (in my case, I'll often use a classic 12volt Revolution). I hate chops with a passion, and having to stop and shake the hopper from time to time to clear the jams drives me nuts. Heck, I'll throw my revi on my pumps, just so I won't have to shake loose the jams.

depends on ur gun really. if you got a pump or tippman then no. but a high end gun, ego or dm, then yes.

Alright you guys have convinced me to get an agitated hopper. I think I seen them at Dunhams for $30.

There are a lot of pump players that use electronic hoppers for the same reasons that Fubarius listed. I for one wouldn't mind picking up a revvy and doing the pocket hopper mod on it.

Hmm, side feed or vertical feed? If its a vertical feed, get a revvy or a basic agitating hopper (don't get a quantum). If its a side feed do the same, but if you ever plan to upgrade your hopper make sure it isn't force feed (halo, rotor, empire b, prophecy, ect.) or you have to get a better parabolic feeder piece (the thing that curves the balls into the breech).

Revvy FTW for mechanical guns. I find that any gravity hopper larger than say 50 rounds needs a lot of shaking to shoot with anything approaching consistancy BPS-wise.

Err, my brass eagle 50rd needs constant shaking when its semi full to keep up with my pump . However Winchester hoppers ftw!

I wouldn't use a gravity hopper on anything, including my pump guns. They just plain don't feed with any consistancy. You can get a Revvy for about $30 and they will feed a pretty consistant 9-10bps.

I don't care if all you can shoot is 5bps - with a gravity loader, you're going to get missed shots and chops even at 3bps unless you shake the gun constantly.

In my case since I'm not very athletic/strong, its difficult for me to hold up the gun by the pump handle 100% of the time with a full revvy. I find that pumping the gun is enough agitation to unjam most grav. feeds anyways.

He said it was a mech marker. I don't think egos, dms, etc are made in mechs

I would suggest at least a Revvy. That should be great for you to avoid misfires.

Same here. I was shooting my J2 pump with a Prophecy last weekend, but would have been almost as happy with either a Revolution or my Ricochet AK. But I love the capacity and light weight on the Prophecy.

Any gun you shoot will benefit from some sort of assisted hopper. On a gun that requires an elbow (like most MiniMags), you'll probably want to keep the weight down, so a lighter hopper is where I'd look. Also, it wouldn't hurt to look at lithium batteries if you can use them. The weight savings from the batteries cannot be overlooked!

Ugh. I chopped all the time with my reloader (the revvy clone) on my Sniper, and switched over to a Revvy. Same problem.

Bottomline: it doesn't matter what marker you're using, stick an electric loader of some sort on there.

YES, you should at least get a 12V revvy. No paintballs getting hung up on the worst of times.
