So NPPL is now USPL?

Back in December when NPPl filed for Chapter 7, does this mean that the became USPL now or what? I dont get it...

Do I have to get re-certified as a ref in order to do events now?

NPPL went under. USPL has bought the rights to use the name and logos and such and can use it (NPPL) for branding as they (USPL) see fit.

That was a very limited run of show.

I beleive USPL NEEDS to buy time slots from ESPN2 and FSN. Hell, maybe even get Fox involved with some world cup events.

What and go bankrupt again?

Yes, we'd all like to flick on ESPN and catch the USPL but we have to build the league before we get ahead of ourselves.

i dont get why people wont play 7 man. 7 man is real paintball where you use your own brain and skill. I dont get what people see in x ball except for the fact that you dont have to think, which is stupid anyway.

How is it that is 7 man is "real paintball" and Xball is not? How is it that you do not have to think while playing Xball?

I love 7 man. I enjoy watching it more than Xball and I wish that paintball programs here in Oklahoma had more interest in playing 7 man so I could play more of it. But I can't justify this animosity and baseless ridicule of other formats like Xball just because I love 7 man.

It's these far fetched claims that imply that other formats are somehow "fake" and the bandwagon bashing of the leadership of other leagues that has us stuck in this unbelievable rut.

All that being said, if there is some logical support for the claim that Xball (or any other league/favorite other than the one that happens to be your favorite) is "fake" or that you don't have to think while playing Xball, please let me hear it. I'm not opposed to a structured (and rational) argument.

OMG lets stay on topic, but xball and 7man are just 2 different styles of paintball and u think in both of them, if ur to much of a dip **** to realize it bequiet

back on topic, i hope not but they had a decent turnout to huntingtonbeach, kinda hard to believe theyre already hurting

With this considered its also a new league with not a huge amount of teams. I'm pretty sure that people are going to start to recognize this league and come play in the events.

The bottom line is that there needs to be X amount of teams showing up for them to make money, they didn't reach that at huntington beach, they definitely wont reach that for SCVillage and DC, so either they rework the budget or this league wont last.

Getting off topic....

But who from the USPL said they were hurting financially? These are just rumors. And they'll do nothing but hurt the league, so why spread them?

They had 101 teams(this is fact) for Huntington beach... it was capped at 140 teams. 40 short of their cap, I'm pretty sure they weren't hurting financially at Huntington Beach.

I don't know if this is also a rumor, but I believe they need 50 teams ENTRY PAID to actually hold the event. And I believe that's why the DC event ended up being rescheduled. So if anybody is hurting financially, it is the teams in the league, since they can't chalk up and pay the entry fee... (or is it they're too lazy/listening to these rumors and think their cash is just gonna disappear if they pay early?)

Is there some sort of "monthly I'm a league fee" that they have to pay while they aren't holding an event that is magically making them hurting for money now? From what I understand there would only be the costs to run a venue and they'd only pay that if they actually hosted the event. Unless I'm missing something here. I'm sure there is the website and advertising fees... but I don't think those two costs would hurt them financially.

Oops, apparently my math sucks. According to APPA it was actually 102 teams signed up for USPL, but yeah, he's right there were 8 college teams playings, making it a grand total of 110.

I think alot of it comes down to teams just dont have the money they used to. I remember playing back in 06 and the team was thriving. Most of us had nice guns and we played out of state events, i have left that team but now they are just a couple kids playing random 3 man tourneys. The economy does have effect on our sport, people losing jobs=cant afford to play=paintball companies and local shops close=our sports dies. But i dont think anyone wants that to happen so try to play the events people, try and get even local sponsors, to slighty help out.
