Recommend me some 70's funk (elitist advice preferred)

I like Parliament, but I know little about the genre outside of the most essential stuff. I want music that sounds like it would be in a Pam Grier movie. The more obscure and outrageous, the better. Please help me be able to talk down to other people about another genre of music.

edit: hm, I realized shortly after posting this thread that this forum most likely won't have any useful insight. So, in the interest of making use of online resources to discover new music, here's some blogs I've been going through (in case anyone else was curious):

http://neapolitanfunk.com/blog/ -This is a pretty bare bones site that primarily posts the a-sides to US funk and soul singles. A+ quality from what I've downloaded so far.

http://voodoofunk.blogspot.com/ -This one centers around an American DJ who spent several years in Africa searching for records. It's an incredibley interesting blog, to say the least. You'll have to got back a few months to get to the actual music since his most recent posts focus on what he's been doing in New York since he got back.

This thread is veering dangerously off topic.

.

I have a friend who's obsessed with funk, and he in no way can even try to be elitist.

I couldn't see anyone like this:

not being super chill and impossible of elitism.

Soulive, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke, and The Harlem Experiment are all pretty good. I've been trying to find more funk recently too, it's tough to find downloads of stuff.

It was a joke you gigantic imbecile.

I'm sure there are plenty of funk elitists. There are funk collectors who pay tons of money for funk records, and they are definitely elitists. The genre has been around for decades, so plenty of douche bags have surely sat around and over analyzed it by now. These people need to help me find some new **** since they have loads of it.
