Is my truck totaled?
so, i wont go into much detail about the accident but i ran into a pole and almost through a wall. here are some pics of the aftermath:
i dont know much about cars, but from what i can tell, it looks like only exterior damage and the frame is a little bent. the hood is jammed shut so i cant see anything underneath but when i get the time i will open it.
you car experts out there, would it be worth it to fix and repair the car? its my only vehicle atm but my parents are saying that it would cost more to fix then its worth. I'm pretty handy myself and could probably jimmy-rig it to look decent with new parts, and some body/frame bending with sledgehammer
so far parts it would need:
new hood
new bumper
new headlight
new battery (smashed into the front end)
new tire
i paid $1200 for this in perfect condition 2yrs ago and my question is, would the cost of parts/my time be worth it? or should i scrap it for a few hundred and buy a new car?

If you can fix it, its not totaled. If you can't, then its totaled. If your plan is to pay a shop, don't even bother. I'd say it would be well over 2,000$. New fender, hood, bumper, grill, headlight, probably need new steering and suspension components, radiator. You could do it yourself with junkyard parts for probably less than 1000 or even 500$. None of that **** is real expensive off old exploders but a shop will rape you on priming and painting all the parts they would buy new.

oh and also, it leaked itself out of some green fluid. idk if that was the radiator or the transmission or what, but does that mean somthing greater is broken under the hood? it doesnt normally leak and it was coming out pretty quickly

If you know nothing about Auto Body you should not work on it. Fixing the frame with a sledgehammer? Really? If you only paid 1200 take the loss and junk it. There's lots of stuff you can find that would be a way better choice. Do you not have insurance? Even so I bet paying the deductible would not even really be worth it...

i have insurance, but the $500 deductible and a huge rate increase would not be worth filing a claim

You'd be better off just buying a new car.

Makes sense. But really I think you should take the loss. Wouldn't you have to go through some kind of safety after you fix it? Telling them you fixed the frame with a sledgehammer isn't usually the best thing. At our shop everything gets checked before we do any work. To make sure there is not any damage of course. If there is any, we use hydraulic pulls and the actual dimensions that it should be at.

Insurance wise, that is absolutely totalled, you would be out of your mind to claim that to insurance.
That's really probably not work fixing. Even if you did fix all the chassis parts that I'm sure you ****ed up, as well as your radiator, oil cooler, and whatever else I'm sure you destroyed, it would still never track right again. It would be a nightmare, and I wouldn't want to be in it for another accident. Anything head on would probably put the engine into your stomach.

lucidus pretty much nailed it. as far as an insurance company is concerned it's going to be a total loss, and it probably isn't worth putting the money into.

if the cost to repair it is within a certain percent of the vehicle's value your insurance will total it. you might as well just scrap it and buy something else.

I'm not sure why you are asking if its totaled or why people are explaining the process of being totaled
Heres some math for you,
you need a fender and a hood...
lets say thats 250 for each panel painted,
you are already up to 500 dollars and thats just paint... on a car that is worth 800 dollars... why would they bother fixing it?
Its junk, try selling it on craigslist
