One more thing if you know there's gonna be an enemy camp along a trail go ahead of the enemy and lay mines really close to the trail (like along side the trail in a tight wall pattern). Send a newbie down the trail tell him if he see's and enemy that he (newbie) is to surrender and when the enemy comes to get him. Splat! goes the mines! lmao! did this trick not too long ago lol my friends were mad at me.

Just aranged to obtain two commercially made AP type
mines, from a non US source. One model spews paint,
the other powder. I'll give a full report once I've received
them and had a chance to conduct T&E. They both use
std 12 gram.
More to follow.

Those mines I was referring to are the ones
being offered by a firm named 'Thunder B'
The two I obtained use standard 12 grams,
the same as the M80TR models from Major
Paintball do. In fact, at first glance these
look a lot like the M80 model, but on closer
inspection they differ enough so they're not
what might otherwise be called copies. If
you're looking to see how these work, check
YouTube for some demo clips.
Sincerely,

You want a mine that looks like a real mine then go for it. Have it spray paint out of the 4 dozen holes in the lid. Nozzles with a hose dangling down into the reseviour of paint. When activated, a CO2 12 gram pressurizes the reseviour and the paint sprays up.
I spent a fair amount of time designing a motion activated land mine. I couldn't get the unit cost below $50 each and simple enough to build with off the shelf components so each member of a team could build ONE and pool them with 20 other team mates mines and actually have a "mine field" of some tactical value rather than a booby trap that could take out players from BOTH teams.
I figured to have a viable minefield, you would want to prevent penetration for a 300 foot long line say around your HQ perimeter. If each mine could cover and kill 20 foot radius or 40 foot LINE then you would need 8 to 10 mines. At $50 each, I didn't feel like popping $500 myself to make one and then have to babysit the minefield and rearm discharged mines throughout the game.
Just didn't appeal to me. I still like to get around the field but maybe after a pair of artificial knees or bypass surgery, I might reconsider.
I did go to ONE game that had motion activated LIGHTS surrounding the HQ for the night game. Convinced me of their potential effectiveness using motion dectection to set off anti personnel mines.
Pondered the baby sitting issue. A mine field would be a fixed emplacement most likely used to defend HQ or some tactically vital area of the field. You could haul in a 100 gallon tank and pressurize it and run hoses to the nozzles/valves that are opened by motion detector in their sensing radius. Just stake them in place and turn them ON. Go Play. Take it down at the end of the game.
The other approach I considered is building a few mines and a BUNCH of decoy mines that look just like it. 2 foot tall, painted Bright red, with flashing LEDs on top, and a sign that says "minefield". Just ask yourself if YOU would walk in there. Now ask yourself would you do it again if one of the REAL ones went off?
I'd wager, they would go around it into an ambush.

I agree with boom master. The problem with reusable mines is the cost. If you invest the time and expense in building you are not going to want to leave them unattended. As in all likelihood they would no longer be around at the end of the game.

Plan B is the team that assaults bases relentlessly until the objective is ours. If you need a group of guys to get things started, we are your men. Whether it is flanking the enemy, capturing a base, or defending a re-insertion, Plan B charges in head on and is a force to be reckoned with. We don't back down to any challenge, and we have no problem rallying others to our cause.
Putting out a dozen plus mine for an effective mine field would require babysitting. Plus with the fluid play of paintball you minefield could end up against you.
Mines are used to do two things. Force the enemy to avoid a area/ channel them into your fields of fire or delay them. After a few are encountered on the field the word gets out and they start to look for them.
I prefer to use only one or two at a time for defense. Think of snipers in COD. Put the claymore on the stairs to prevent being snuck up on. Use one to cover your back and the second to cover most likely ave of approach. They hit the first one and back up and come into the second one then you light them up. Another fun one is covering dead space. Look for places they will take cover prior to assaulting your position. They hit that position and several are eliminated. Breaks up the assault and allows a counter attack.
Another use is when your position is being over run. Activate the mine inside the base and bug out. When they enter, you get a few. Might have a chance for a counter attack. I was pondering a time delay for activation of a motion activated land mine. I would have to arm it some way and get out of sensing range before it activated anyway. A variable time delay could bunch the whole overrunning team inside the bunker or base before it goes off. Then counter attack.
Then to avoid the babysitting task, I wanted to make a self re-arming, mult-shot landmine that would have a 3-5 shot capacity before having to recharge and refill. But every feature added costs, bulk, weight, and complexity for others to duplicate to pool into a minefield.

I got one on Ebay for $20 plus freight from a guy in Texas that had a PVC trimmed pipe that is refillable. I only have one and use it as a trip wire random placement on the woods paths when I'm trying to lead to a tap/snipe position.
I never play with other mine players. If I had 4 mines to lay out in a pattern, I'd work on a single point mass spray pattern.
M-54 landmine replaces M55,no glue used in these so they wont blow apart like some others.also has Bladder"explode feature as well.this thing rocks!!!super compact uses 12g co2,powder or paint.
