My First Attempt At A Mashup

Hey guys I just started getting into DJing, sold all my PB gear to get my DJ gear, and have been messing around with mixing and scratching. This is my first attempt at a mashup. Its Beck-Where Its At and David Bowie-Fame. Any feedback, positive or negative is greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't call that a mash up so much as you just played Beck over the beat for Fame.

Ya I just call it mixing but the everyone seems like they like to use the word mash up. Wikipedia says a mashup is: A mashup, bootleg or blend[1] (also mash up and mash-up) is a song or composition created by blending two or more songs, usually by overlaying the vocal track of one song seamlessly over the music track of another.

Get a program called DbPowerAmp. It will convert damn near any audio file into something else. Very useful for recording.

I'll give your mix a listen in a minute.

iTunes converts them to .m4a, not .mp3.

Don't.
Don't.
Don't do that.

Are you sure? Because when I have the wav file in my library I just go to Advanced>Create mp3 version. I know when you rip a CD onto iTunes it makes it m4a. Also when I have ripped CDs onto my computer they are m4a then I do that create mp3 version otherwise Mixmeister can't analyze the BPM on it.

You can just export from Audacity as an mp3 and then open it with itunes and it will work.

I know Itunes got in trouble for requiring .m4a format in a couple of countries. Most of my Itunes files are mp3 as far as I can tell.
