Guitar and bass,

But I've only played the bass guitar professionally.

Currently I play an Ibanez SR505 through an SVT classic with an Ampeg 8x10 cab.

Your amp is way too good for your bass. And why would anybody need an 8x10? Just get a 4x10.

You're right on both points. I needed a 5 string to cover the range of tunes we were playing a few years ago. I also have an Ibanez BTB and a rare Hartke bass with a flame maple neck, ebony fretboard, aluminum neck and active emg's. I'm actually trying to sell the 8x10 and get a 4x10 instead. My guitar player talked me into the 8x10 (it does sound awesome) but it's way more than I need and a ***** to haul around.

Yeah, I've found that most people who use those Ampeg 8x10s just do so because they're so famous, when a 4x10 would be so much better.

Yeah, any decent club is going to mic you anyway. Hell I might just sell everything, run direct out of my sansamp and use a practice amp for stage volume.

I play guitar, taking classical lessons. I have a bass, but never use it. It's not like I don't know how to use it as well as guitar, I just never feel like picking it up. I also play the piano. I have a little Yamaha keyboard that I play scales on every once in a while, i just need to start memorizing all the cord patterns on piano.

Currently, I'm slowing down my guitar focus and teaching myself to play the drums with the help of a few friends. I kinda fell right into it, as all my friends are drummers. Watching them practice really helped me a lot for getting started.

I am a metalhead, but the more I play metal, the more I realize that I really like playing more acoustic stuff (like Agalloch's acoustic stuff) better. Not that I wouldn't like being in a metal band, but I really need a driving goal and inspiration to play it, while acoustic stuff comes naturally.

Which reminds me, we need to schedule another "practice" session.
