Sounds good but I would choose an LPR setting (# of turns), stick with it then perform the fine tuning guide to get your dwell lower for efficiency.

I would do this only after the marker is broken in.
Not sure how many cases but I fine tuned my dwell after 10 cases.
Now I'm about to do it again to see if there was any major change.

My SL94 seems rougher with a lower dwell. I fiddled with that and the LPR. Maybe I gotta break it in alittle more.

What is the best way to choose an LPR setting. I have read through the whole thread, is it just a matter of picking which one of these we want?
Quote:
In = less wear and tear on internals but possibly less consistency
Out = possibly more wear and tear on internals but more consistency.
Or is there actually a way to figure out the optimal LPR setting for each specific marker? My Ego8 has been inconsistent lately, it was fairly better after being tech'd, but I would really like to know the way to fine tune a marker for most consistent velocities.

As of now there is no set way to determine the optimal LPR setting.
Players could rack their brains all day long about it.

In the end it comes down to balance. I chose 1 turn in, basically a half-way point between wear and tear and consistency.

When we're talking about wear and tear I'm sure they mean o-rings.
An easy swap and you're worn out parts are back to new.

I can't see a major change in consistency from 1 turn to 2 turns in so I stay at the half way point.

After you pick your LPR turn count, fine tune your dwell with the excel program I have. PM me your email address.

Sent a pm for the tunning guide, awesome thread!

I did see something I've never noticed with my other ego's that has me a lil concerned about lowering the dwell more CHOPPING. I've never chopped a ball with my 08's but they were all bought used this is my first new gun (SL94) and I've chopped a couple balls with it. but is not broken in yet either??

Not being broken in may have some effect, but it could just be some overly brittle paint, or it could be that your loader settings are too high in respect of speed or tension, causing the balls to get cracked while in the loader or ball stack - a ball that has already been cracked in the loader will often break during feeding, and will almost certainly blow up when it is shot.

Increasing the eye filter settings a little may help, but if it is the loader that is the issue, you really just need to turn down the settings to a level that the paint can handle without cracking.

I was using a Rotor on my 08's and just put the Prophecy on the SL, I'll try taking a magnet or two out of my Prophecy and trying again, I didn't see any paint in the loader but that's not to say they weren't cracked (fresh Evil paint)

Turn the screw until it's flush with the end of the LPR cap.
turn the screw 1, 1.5 or 2 full rotations inwards.

Yes, it really works for any marker. Assuming you can adjust your dwell.

Yep, dwell tuning can be applied to any marker. In the case of the LPR adjustment, don't go in any further with an Etek than 1.5 turns - I'd normally recommend no more than one turn. The Etek LPR is a bit different to the Ego9 LPR, and you can't adjust it as far as the Ego9 without risking bottoming out your piston or over compressing the springs.

What about an ego7? My LPR is currently 1 1/2 turns in, is that ok? I don't plan to turn it in any more than that.

That's fine as is, but no, I wouldn't turn it in any further.

Every year Ego is different. When it comes to LPR 1-2 turns in is about right but Dwell is different for every year. I have had 3 08 egos and for the best smoothest and quiet setup you have to up the dwell to 14. 12.5 is stock but your gun will be rough and louder. Trust me 14 is the dwell for an 08. I now also have an 09 and have found the stock dwell at 10.5 to be the best for a smooth quiet marker. Once you tune the LPR and dwell just right your Ego will be the best gun you have ever shot and other guns including dm's will not compare even close!

You can dwell tune your marker with the Virtue OLED board just as you would with the stock board. So, just follow the directions given at the start of this thread.

Same process works fine - in fact, it can be applied to any marker.
