So what exactly would happen if I went the opposite and made the dwell higher? Im looking to get the smoothest shot possible rather than be uber effecient because I can get free fills at my field so its really not an issue.

so I tried this out this weekend. I ended up with a dwell of 9ms. After setting the dwell i did nothing but chop balls. Was this a coincidence or was it a result of the dwell being too low?

Higher dwell is easier on balls, 9ms might be the best for efficiency for your marker but I suppose it was not for shooting those brittle balls.

so i have to choose break balls or break O rings? Kinda sucks if you ask me. I guess ill raise the dwell and blow threw a few more o rings until this new part comes out.

Did you perform the over-dwelling test? drop your dwell to 3 and see if it fires normally with the typical sound and cycle pattern. If it does you need to get your solenoid fixed.

There have been reports that some solenoids have been overdwelling, meaning that if you set it at 10.5 it could actually be higher than what you set it at. If the marker fires at a dwell of 3 and sounds like it's at a dwell of 10 then you are overdwelling. If the bolt cylces forward with a clicking sound then you are ok. As long as it does not sound like a standard dry fire shot.

Ok so you are not over-dwelling and you performed the dwell setting test.
Where is your LPR set?

I would recommend that you up your dwell then, it seems you are shooting fragile paint. What brand did you use?

I run 1 turn in from flush and a stock dwell of 10.5 to break in the marker.

I've spoken to several PE reps and they confirmed there is a break-in period for the marker. I would keep it at 10.5, run about 20 cases through it and then head off to the chrono to follow the dwell setting guide.

I usually try to keep my dwell a tad higher so I can shoot brittle to hard paint year round without having to touch the dwell everytime the temp changes.

If you can bring a laptop to the chrono, follow this guide:

i use RPS premium. It does seem pretty fragile lately. And i live in central Illinois, so its kinda chilly in the mornings. I did use this guide though, but i think i only have about 8 or 9 cases trough it. ill up the dwell and keep replacing o rings until i get it broken in, then ill try this guide again.

So

So I started reading this thread and noticed my bumper was pretty beat up, and so I tried the over dwelling test and failled at 3 ms my gun shoots. Also when my marker is put into training mode the gun still fire as if it were shooting paint. So does the marker need to be sent to eclipse or what exactly, is it actually the solenoid or is it the board. I dont really understand how a solenoid can be over dwelling. Its just a simple coil and spool not really any "smart" electronics.

Thanks In Advance

Adam

I'll not comment on the solenoid, as I kind of wonder the same thing myself, so I'll let someone else deal with that.

In relation to your firmware, if your bolt still cycles in training mode, rather than the board beeping to indicate each trigger pull, then you definitely have one of the earlier firmware versions.

You can use the same tuning procedure with the Ego8.
