USPL going mainstream?
So now that we have a national pb league, is it going to be going with the same ranks as the NFL, NHL, or NBA? I'm saying this as in our pro teams getting the same recognition. We do have an east and west divison just as all pro sports so that's why I'm so excited for this. I really hope that this will help paintball grow

Well yeah I know the PSP is national. I'm just thinking that we will grow even more now. I just want it to get on T.V. like other sports. It's not fair to us...

The NXL was on tv a few years ago. They didn't continue it, because not many people watched it or knew what it was.

this economy WILL stop us if we continue to be in a recession. paintball is a luxury sport... its not the same as other sports because of its high investment cost. all other sports can be played in backyards, front yards, parks, and the street. paintball will never be that accessible to the general public.
i love paintball as much as any baller on the nation, but facing the facts of the current economic woes and the pure cost of the sport, it will never be viable as a true mainstream sport like the nfl, mlb, etc...

this fairly true. however, golf is also a luxury sport which has taken the limelight with the PGA. I think that a readjustment of people's perception of paintball also needs to occur. most people hear "paintball" and think "dorks in the woods playing war".

you think the uspl is going to use old bunkers and lame turf? wcppl is a regional league. look at the turnout of teams compared to the uspl, its half the size. not discrediting the wcppl, i heard they put on a great event, but its on an entirely different level

Haha. Nah wasn't going at you. Just joking that paintball isn't going to make it to the levels of other sports. Just wont.

WCPPL was a great event. The reason there weren't that many teams is because HB was coming around the corner. The reason there are so many teams playing the USPL is because it is HB, and everyone comes out for this event. But you compare last years numbers to this years, it isnt that great. I hope USPL is around for a long time, but I wonder why HB is the only event listed in APPA under the USPL. Correct me if I am wrong, but WCPPL D3 winners got $4000 cash for 1st place and you can use what ever paint you wanted and entry was $1200. USPL D3, paid early $1850, I hear first place pays out $4250, and the paint is SOOOOOOOO expensive. Eveyone knows what we paid for paint at the WCPPL event. Oh yeah, there were only 9 teams registered in D3 and it still paid out $4000. Do the math. Its not that difficult. And another point, D4 (rookies) series champs in the WCPPL get 7 Luxes. WCPPL FTW. USPL needs to step up and make it a bit more cost friendly to the teams. I dont know how many players have played the layout, but expect to shoot a lot of paint.

Comparing regional and national league costs is comparing apples and oranges.

USPL.......hmmm i have the hhighest of hopes for this series, but right now psp is on top (although i dont agree with alot of decisions that owners are makingfor the lower divisions, i can see why they are doing it) with that being said PSP isdefinitly the premire league to play in. One thing that worries me with the uspl is that they eliminated semi pro leaving alot of players....how is the easiest way to put this ******, and the fact that the pros own the league to me merely means that its gonna be fair or completely biased with he pro teams being the good 'ol boys (there will be no grey area). But time will tell the entire story, it always does,
bryan
p.s. best of luck to the uspl

You are very correct. But when the regional is paying out almost as much in prizes than the national, it makes you wonder. Also there is no reason the paint should be that much more expensive.
