Thumbs up sp-1 TOTAL disassembly guide

well i planned on making this thread for a while and then i saw another guy beat me to it but i had already typed it out and taken all the pics so i kinda had to post it.

this is a thread about how to COMPLETLY disassemble the smartparts sp-1, i realize most of yall already know how but for those that dont i hope this helps.

i hav a car stock on my sp1 and i thought i would take some pics of how the stock adapter works cuz i havnt been able to find any anywhere else.

all the parts to the stock adapter and the stock's end

[IMG][/IMG]

the stock slides into one half of the adapter, you have to make sure the little fin on the stock points up cuz theres a groove in the adapter that the fin goes into and it keeps the stock from spining.

[IMG][/IMG]

the otherhalf slides into the grooves

[IMG][/IMG]

and the cover slides over the two halves of the adapter. those two pins lock the two halves of the adapter together.

[IMG][/IMG]

put the screws in, bolt it on to the gun and yur done!

[IMG][/IMG]

btw the stock adapter takes the place of the back plate.

so heres my gun with the stock off and the barrel out ready to dissasemble.

[IMG][/IMG]

unscrew the asa

[IMG][/IMG]

to take the hose off the reg you hav to use a snap ring tool to get the snap ring off.

[IMG][/IMG]

you will prolly hav to loosen the set screw on the back of the foregrip so it can slide off.

[IMG][/IMG]

unscrew both of the screw in the bottom rail in front of the foregrip.

[IMG][/IMG]

alright so now i hav the bottom line and the foregrip cover off. unscrew the reg from the va. ( mine wouldnt come out so i left it on for a while longer but its easier to just take it off now.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

at this piont you should prolly take the back plug out with the provided hex key. (i took my handle off first but you should prolly take the back plug and bolt out so you dont smash the board on something.)

[IMG][/IMG]

if you look inside the back of the gun you will see a little peg thing, that is the back of yur bolt. i used a swab and inserted it in the barrel end of the gun and pushed the bolt out the back.

[IMG][/IMG]

now yur bolt and back plug are out.

[IMG][/IMG]

where the red arrows are there are two screw, those hold the frame on.

[IMG][/IMG]

undo them both and pivot the frame out like in the picture, if you pull it strait out the back you might damage the board.

[IMG][/IMG]

theres yur board.

[IMG][/IMG]

actually theres a really easy mod you can do to make yur gun fire faster, theres a metal tab the covers the trigger switch. it normally is straight but if you bend it like in the pic it shortens the trigger travel and makes the trigger switch ALOT more sensitive
before i did this i could fire like 8-10 bps now i can max the board out very easily (11 bps)

[IMG][/IMG]

at this piont you need to take the board off theres two hex headed screw at each end of the board unscrew both of those CARFULLY

now you can take the tube out. theres two screws that hold it in, one also hold the va (vertical adapter, where the reg screws into) theres a hole in the top of the gun where the barrel goes, if you look into that hole you can see a screw, take that screw out.

[IMG][/IMG]

now on the bottom of the gun theres another screw thats holding a wedge thing in. take out that screw too.

[IMG][/IMG]

yur va should hav come loose when you undid the first screw and so you hav the va and the board out. like i said my reg was stuck on.

[IMG][/IMG]

the metal tube should just slide out easily you can pull it out from the front or the back it dosnt matter.

[IMG][/IMG]

btw the rubber things in the sides off the tube are yur ball detents.

[IMG][/IMG]

i finally got the reg off by srewing the va back onto the tube and putting a vise grip on the reg, it left some scratches but it worked.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

heres a look at the internalls of the reg, everything sit in the reg just like they are in the pic.

[IMG][/IMG]

so my sp-1 seliniod went "out" like vengador predicted in his thread "good design bad manufacturer" thats the reason why im taking my gun apart, so i can fix it.....hopefully
heres a link to his thread, which really is confusing to me so maybe i can explain it better after i do it, assuming it works.

actually heres a vid off me shooting my sp1 and it actually broke right while i was making the vid.
when i went to switch it to 3rd burst it just died :'( after that it shot once more, its dying breath and then it hasnt shot since

Very nice write-up, kinda makes me wonder why Smart Parts can't put something like this in it's manual.
