HAHA. Typically military.
And who knows where I go on base to talk to someone about retraining? NCOs and SNCOs in my shop are dodging my questions because they don't want anyone to cross-train, even FTA. I'm determined to get out of this career and I ain't letting them stop me. I want to make sure that I heard right about critically-manned aircrew positions are open to those half-way through their contract. (I'm 6yr enlistee, typically I'd have to wait til 5yrs, but apparently for something like Aerial Gunner I can go for it at 3yrs).
Go to VMPF and submit for retraining. They will tell you exactly when you are eligible for retraining into the fields you select. Now days, you don't need to talk to anybody on base. It's all online.
