Phoenix Ravens: Essentially they are the only group of SF members that have the best schools available to them. they have the access and availability to go airborn, ranger, counter sniper and sharpshooter schools, as well as others. they do fly aways and get paid for doing nothing.

unless you happen to land in the 820th you wont get there unless you volunteer for korea or something and get base of choice. there are some good people out of there but a lot of them are tools. "Im 820th we're badasses of SF..." not really. other bases have better more intense missions than they do its just a matter on what they are slotted for. Go to Moody if you want to get into some good schools. other than that I dont think anything more of them... they are just cops like me.

anything else you want to know just shoot

If you join SF be sure to not put nuke bases or korea on your dream sheet.

TRUE! but that doesnt mean you will not be selected for a slot to that base.

Just letting you know if you are selected for PRP and you go in to be evaluated; if you have been any of the following you are automatically disqualified and wont get a PRP base:

Done drugs
Smoked Marijuana
Have an extensive criminal background
Sleepwalk
Talk in your sleep
Been hypnotized
Have problems sleeping or fall asleep easily
Have financial problems or bad debt (history of etc.)

These are the things that will knock you off that list pretty easily. they screen all canidates before they are given their base. Me personally, I am not PRP certified but if I were selected I know I talk in my sleep, have sleepwalked before, and have been hypnotized. So pretty much I stick to LE

Thinking about getting a Nikon D300... is there anywhere I can get a good deal on one? Is that a good cam i know i got some photo guys in here

man am i glad i found this thread:

i plan on joining the airforce (if police dept. doesnt pick me up), went and took the asvab and scored an 82 which made the recruiter flip backwards dunno why.

im looking to go for pararescue (been training for the test, swimming a 500 is a joke with me being a lifeguard but i havent tried the run yet and pull ups are a weakness on my part) my question is, how difficult really is the schooling, im already a emt-b so i know the 22 weeks of emt-p isnt that bad for me but how is the schooling, keep in mind im a former wrestler and can easily push my body past breaking point.

well of course with it haveing a 90% drop out rate my backup choice is security forces, how is that if anyone knows, seeing as i want to be a cop eventually i know this is a good route to go.

btw is the pay really as low as 1650 monthly? (i have my AA so i go in as a E-3)

Watch the movie "The Guardian" The part of the PJ pipeline that washes out the most people is the drownproofing and that is what they show a lot of in the guardian. Other than that its 2 years of sick hard work from what I've read. If you think you cant quite do that you should look into TACP. From what I've seen it's not quite as challenging but its up there.

Edit: Oh yeah....I got a 96 on my ASVAB but my recruiter didnt do backflips for me....douche

haha the recruiter happend to mention that the area average was like 40 so i guess he had reason.

do you mean the part where he hits the TA in the nose?
the drownproofing doesnt seem that hard then seeing as lifeguarding consist of that (funny stuff actually)

btw the reason the coast guard is not for me is because when i went to go talk to the guy the recruiter apparantly had his head so far up his butt that he didnt want to tell me about the CG, just brag about how he hit his quota and that i should go to the next recruiter (2 counties away). douche

Haha. Here I come to save the day!

jk, but D300 is a good pick. I shot them when I went back to school, and they were very nice cameras for the price.

I would shop at BHphotovideo.com

A rule of thumb with camera gear: if the deal looks to good to be true then its too good to be true. TRUST ME.

The price on BH is going to be the best, or nearly the best. And for the possible few extra $$ you spend at BH, you will get quality customer service and a guaranteed quality product..

That is the only place I shop and it is the only place I will buy my offices photo gear from.

its more than you think because you don't have to pay for anything. You only pay for stuff you want. i know plenty of A1Cs going out and buying brand new cars.

Think of it is WAY more than that.

$1650/ month

+$670 for a place to live.. or in the dorms if you are single

+$300 for food, or like $70 if you are in the dorms, then you get chow hall and eat for free

+ 30 days paid leave

+ FREE COLLEGE

+ ~$80,000 for college after you get out

+ all the other little benefits that you may or may not encounter...

Dude.. Im doing better than most people I know 4+ years out of college with a degree. Hell I drive a cadillac

Thats $2,600 +/ month right out of high school with no degree... Gonna complain now?

Why is this?
Do you hate officers? how would you rate your interactions with them?
What's the highest ranking officer you have any regular contact with? are you only working with 2nd LT's who just got their commissions or do you work with the more senior field and general grade officers?
If people hate officers, it is because they dont have respect for them. Now some officers dont deserve respect. In my experience, I have a problem with the officers who expect you to respect them just because of their rank. My philosophy is.. I will respect the person.. reguardless of rank.. Sure ill salute your bars.. but I dont have to respect you.

That being said, most officers are good, level headed people. Now reguarding the questions about LT's. I work with officers ranging from O-1's to 0-6's on a daily basis. I have worked with 3 stars, but not on a regular basis.

I look at LT's, for the most part, as just as competent as an E-1 -E-4. They are just as new to the military as you are.. they dont know anymore or less than you do... only difference is, you salute them.. Now if they are worth a damn they will figure out the military quickly.. others.. they dont figure it out.. and those are the ones who become *******s..

TL;dr: most officers are cool, some people just cant handle people appointed over them, giving them orders.. so they log onto PbN and ***** about it. But there are bad officers out there.

good point, also decided to factor in some special pay (if i get into pararescue god willing) like dive, flight, parachute, and spec. duty pay...thanks for the info, i wont hear from my recruiter till next week so ill keep you guys posted.

quick questions i know pararescue and security forces require security clearence, ive been arrested as a minor, will that affect my eligibility? it was a dumb mistake i regret but nothing i can do. my recruiter is asking for the waiver which is why im waiting but a early inquiry wouldnt hurt

Not sure... Never had to deal with that.. I do know lots of people who are having major issues because of security clearance issues because of things they did before they joined the military...

they joined with a waiver, but then when they go their job, they are running into issues.

for example.. a girl I know joined with something on her record. got it waived. And now she cant get a Restricted area badge.. which is essential to doing her job...

well just submitted my dream sheet

1. Intel
2. Aircraft maintenance
3. Security Forces(I needed a third choice and this was the only other one on the list that I've thought semi-seriously about)

hopefully they don't stick me in Space and Missiles.
