Apocalypse Paintball 3-Man Tournaments

This Spring/Summer Apocalypse Paintball will be holding 2-3, 3-Man tournaments. They will be held on the new, GI Sportz PSP Airball field that Apocalypse has.

Costs of Entry, Paint, and Prizes are still in the works. As well as an overall format.

Please leave thoughts and feedback on what you think

Awesome. Depending on work schedule and where I end up (Graduation throws a wrench into planning for the future) I'd love to play.

To reiterate, we are asking for input from the WI paintball community and those interested in attending such events. We wish to provide a quality tournament experience, solid and adequate (in terms of # of refs) reffing, and a "customer service" orientation to you, the players. Ultimately, when the teams and players are happy at the end of the day and satisfied with how the tournament was run - we are happy.

Currently, the ideas circulating will produce a 3-man D4 or open division tournament run with modified PSP rules. Ramping allowed, no coaching. Additionally, we will likely be using GI 3 Star paint for the events, at affordable prices. Lastly, we have a tentative date set for the first tournament - May 5th, 2013.

For those interested, please help us out with some thoughts, ideals, and what you want to see out of these events! We are committed to providing the best possible tournament experience to you!

Thanks,

NVP

Having these as "bragging rights" or a low-cost plaque/medals/trophy would keep the costs down. Things like this shouldn't be viewed by teams as potential money makers. Plus, keeping prizes out of the picture will keep the sandbaggers away to some degree.

I know I'd love to be able to bring our fledgling team around for some 3-man, but if we'd have to slog through the event being nothing more than bullet stoppers for the guys who show up just for the guns for first place (or whatever), it's less appealing to show up at all.

Just my $.02.

Agreed Scout, thank you. From what we have discussed, these events would be more tailored to the weekend players, young guns, etc. - looking to get some local tournament experience, without costing them an arm and a leg in the process.

Keep the ideas coming,

Thanks again

Not saying names, but with a certain field having their sponsored teams in their tournaments, and having them win, I would think that NVP and Khaotik should be refs, and not play. This worked well with the Brew City Legit Cup, and everyone left pretty satisifed, rather than another series where everyone but the sponsor's teams were rather dissatisfied.

This will be an NVP tournament, and Khaotic being a sponsored Apocalypse team, wont be able to play. Also we will be setting up the field the day before so no one will be able to practice the layout. Lastly, we plan on doing D4 with one D3 player on the roster and modified PSP rules (ramping/no coaching) Will let everyone know when it gets locked up but would like to hear some more input!

Are you requiring APPA ID's for this, or will folks be able to show up without one? I haven't had one since 2005, and that was for being staff for a team. I think I'd be something like D9 at best these days.

APPA Id's will not be required for these events. If there are any issues with this please speak with the head of NVP's Human Resources department, Brian Conrad.

First off, its Head of Public Relations. Secondly, it's Conradt.

But in regards to ranking, No PRO players. If out of nowhere a D1 player ventures in to play a local 3 Man, good news ! The rest of You get a decent challenge AND get to have fun playing paintball. Just like the Baby Jesus intended.

Any other ranking questions and I'll happily respond

If anybody on NVP wants to get ahold of Jaron or I to help run the event let us know we would be more then glad to help support with reffing, setting up, tearing down, etc. I agree with the statement nobody from our team will be on the field unless its helping out NVP.
