Here is the one problem I have with using the APPA. I am going to use MROF as a example.
If you have a team like MROF playing Div 5 with basically all of the new teams, how is that going to be fair?
A team that has been playing every PPC series, and local event for maybe the past 3 years? But none of them ever playing a PSP or NPPL/USPL event. Therefore they could sign up as DIV 5 and wipe out the division and win the money.
Then you could say have Cincinnati Devastation who will play DIV 4? this year, and yet they are a newer team than MROF. They just decided to pony up and play a National Event....They are stuck playing DIV 4 for the CPB Series which technically should be tougher to win than DIV 5 were they would have a better chance.
The same thing with me. I could play DIV 4/5 PSP if I wanted because I have not registered with APPA, but I have played NPPL for the past 5 years up to DIV 1. Would that be fair for the teams in DIV 4/5? I could think of more than a hand full of players that could do the same and then walk away with the $2500.
Also if there were more divisions with the series the days would have to be broken up. Say 10 teams in each division(which the $2500 is based on) 3/4/5 8 Prelim games each. 10*8 = 80 * 3 = 240 in a day? And that is not counting quarters/semi/finals.
The only solution to this is single/double elimination, and what fun would that be?
I understand that this is to help promote paintball and to have fun, but if you don't think you have a chance to win the series because its open, why play?
