Piranha Sear Problems

I've heard about the Piranhas having problems with the sear being chipped after a few hundred rounds.

Has PMI fixed this problem or are they still just offering replacements?

As far as I know this is still on a batch by batch basis. The older sears were too soft and wore, now the new ones may be too brittle and crack

Either way, PMI customer service is great and will replace it hastily for no charge.

I recieved one of the newer sears and I notice wear(hmm 1000 shots?), but it doesnt seem to be an abnormally large amount. I will report whether it holds up next time I play (which may not be for a bit, unfortunately).

yeah, i would definatly give pmi a call if you ever have problems. they have the best customer service you will ever deal with. they are really nice about replacing things too.

Just got a response from John Dresser of PMI.
He says the sear problem is no more!!

"All Piranhas now come with a laser cut steel sear that is guaranteed for life."

This appeared to be the only problem with Piranha 'guns. Now with this problem fixed, Piranhas are now the best of the best.

Can't wait to get mine!!!

How recent was this? Because I replaced my sear with a "new" one sometime around thanksgiving, and it does show a little wear on the corner (brittle fracture though, not ductile like the soft sears). Is this recent enough to be the new one? It's darkened steel.

I'm not sure about yours, but I sent them an email a few days ago and got the response today. So, I'm guessing they'll be in the 'guns that were bought recently.

my friend has shot about 3 cases through his pirinah it is a new G2 and he hasnt had any problems

I have a PMI Piranha STS G2 and my sear has held up through about 4-5 cases of paint. I just got my piranha in January.

Avram just give em a call I'm sure they'd be more then willing to replace it. even if past the warranty they are sometimes willing to replace free of charge just so you know.

I have 4 old G1’s and a G2 with the recalled trigger frame. One of the G1’s is really old. No serial # or printing on the side. Called up PMI and they sent me 4 new sears and a trigger frame. It seems to have done the trick.
