Cant cock spyder clone

Title pretty much sums it up.

After taking it apart to oil it up to get ready for the season, the darn thing wont cock, well sorta. I pull it back and it will not catch. I have to take out the plug at the back where you can adjust the spring tension for raising and lowering your fps. then it will cock, but not when it is in with the pin. I am almost positive I have put it back together correctly, what could cause this?

yeah that flat part is facing down, if i take out the velocity adjuster I can pull it back far enough to cock, but if it is in and the pin is holding it, its a no go on the cocking, ill get some pics up in a second, I believe its a older 32 degrees mongoose, blue, electronic with no lcd.

looking for my camera now, everything seems to be tightly screwed in. It all seems a little "tight" now.

cool

here's also the assembly thread.

is the spring guide (golden part in this pic http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y59...t/6b64fdb6.jpg) inside the hole of the back plug when you put the plug on?

you probably shouldn't run your gun like this, but try and see if it will cock without the striker bumper (the clear rubber donut)

Apparently my brother was right, no rubber is always better. Yes it cocks w/o the donut

no it's not always better. it may snap your cross pin later if you play like that for too long. Or bend some things so you can't take it out. Worst case scenario.

i would try and see how far it is from cocking with everything installed, and see if it's possible to file off that distance off the back plug.

and post some pictures anyway, with the internals visible if possible, you never know who else can fix it for you or who else has the same problem.

Its so unbelievably close to cocking right now, I could probably shave the donut or the pin and get it to work now that I know what the issue was. Ill take some snapshots and get em up here.

Your striker shim, or guide as you call it, must not be seating properly. If it actually cocks when you pull out the velocity adjuster it means your sear is just fine and your striker is sitting too far forward. If the striker is too far forward it means something with the assembly is not allowing the shim to fit properly in the striker.

Pull your bolt out and actually look at the assembly from the top slot. It is easy to see what is hanging up your striker that way. Use an allen to cock it back if you have to so you can obseve what is happening and how to fix it.
