Rankings question

I am currently ranked d2 in the psp, so I understand that I will be ranked d2 in the uspl, but my question is. Lets say this season I was to play in two d1 USPL events, I would be ranked d1 probably in USPL, and I know psp rankings transfer over into the uspl, but will uspl rankings transfer over into the psp?

yes they use APPA, but appa is a tournament series tool to register teams and create schedules, but the leagues actually have there own ranking systems implemented into the software, the uspl decided to take psp rankings and convert them over, meaning if you are ranked d2 in psp, you are automatically d2 in the uspl, my question is, will psp be using the same idea? will d1 uspl players automatically be bumped to d1 psp?

im going to say, yes.

there are some people who dont play psp and will play uspl pro, they cant be d3 in psp, that would be unfair, they will be ranked pro

it would have to work both ways

But, say some people played exclusively NPPL at D1 and higher, does that mean those individuals can start over if they want? It would be easier, since the USPL is still growing, and I imagine it would be a PITA to try and correct rankings from the ****ty old system.

The question was how that will affect eligibility on the new system.

This will require a rule change i think since the psp did not recognize nppl divisional rankings before.
Unless they are making a 1 to 1 comparison of the leagues now.

its more of a question for the psp than the uspl, because psp decides what factors count in there ranking, they could say they are not taking uspl rankings into consideration when ranking psp players.. or they could cary them over.. its all up to the psp

i havnt heard that uspl will do this. if they do they can just get the info now from idpro or whoever ran it, they should have other records besides NPPLs

ya old system was so ****ty, 08 i remember going to the registration on thursday and you had to 'CLAIM' what rank you were. being semi pro, i could say d3 and they would have no idea. my guess is if we won it could possibly be further looked at but what a joke it was

I concur, whenever a new ID is/was needed for a new team, you're just asked what rank you would be playing at, not what you'd be allowed to play at.

The thing is, will the USPL be doing anything to stop formerly high ranked NPPL players from sandbagging or not. IF there is anything they could do, depending on the availability of IDpro/etc.'s records.

according to scottsdale elevation, they can.

They're a pro team in the USPL, and they played (and won undefeated) D2 in phoenix.

....so much for "no sandbagging", eh?

The good thing is if sandbagging does occur, it will only be for the first year or two. As for the long term (if "long term" even exists), USPL should be able to catch any sandbaggers immediately with APPA.

Your answer is you need to ask the PSP.

In the past I don't believe they looked at NPPL rankings, so based on that, you might be OK.

However, they can do whatever they like, so you'll need to ask them to get a definitive answer.

Sorry I can't be more helpful than that.

In the past, the rules basically said that if you were D2 in one league, you could play D3 in the other league, probably to even it out between people who played one format more than the other. Not that the two ever cooperated to check them anyways, but thats what the rule WAS. I still want to know if the old ranks will be carried over from IDpro, because theres no real way to validate them, and I don't think they would take the time to enter it all into APPA.
