Coaching in 5-man?

I've yet to really look at the rulebook, but I was curious about sideline coaching. Is it allowed this year like in CFOA 5man?

If so, please inform me as to how it works. (how many, if they need to be rostered, if they can only coach from one side, can't pass the 50, etc.)

Thanks in advance.

I'd prefer no coaching, it takes out the possibility of counter coaching and also makes you play with more awareness in your game

i agree. our teams plan is to put 2 squads in for the whole season and we believe that only the people in the game have the right to communicate

I agree with both sides. I played EPL last year and it was really fun. I played CFOA Xball last weekend and it was so much more intense for the players as well as the people watching. I think it would add a different aspect to the EPL you already have a great thing going with the series getting huge now. I say allow coaching you went with the psp rules no need to pick and choose which ones to use. Just my two cents I will play either way.

My thought on this issue is this, we have agreed to the PSP rules like stated before. In the PSP rules the audience is allowed to "coach" so when you get to World Cup, if you make it there, you are going to have sideline coaching. Like it or not it is going to be there. You are better off getting used to it now rather than make it all the way to Florida and get destroyed because you weren't ready for the change. I like coaching personally. It makes for a much more intense game. Just my 2 cents.

Okay for real. A lot of these teams probably dont play in any othe leagues other than EPL but since we've adopted this "Universal Class" of ranking and playing format then WHY NOT ADD COACHING LIKE THE OTHER LEAGUES HAVE as well. Like someone stated earlier, you cant pick and choose which rules you want to go by. If the EPL adopted the Universal System we should do what the "System" is doing. It makes perfect sense.

To all the teams and people who dont want coaching, next time you practice use sideline coaches and see how you like it. I'm pretty sure your opinion will change.

ALLOW SIDELINE COACHING

I also agree. We played CFOA 5 man all last year with no coaching. We went to World Cup and the coaching added an entirely different element that we weren't used to...

i would prefer no coaching in d5 and d4, maybe in open and d3 if those teams want it or if the epl did an xball divison next season.

I am getting a lot of emails about the coaching. Most of you do not want the coaching. The UCP states that the EPL should use the PSP rulebook as a guideline.

NoMercy666 makes a good point. I have the same thought.

Most people feel that coaching belongs in X-ball according to the emails that I am getting. I have been thinking about this for about 2 weeks. Whatever decision I make will not make everyone happy!! I will announce a decision next week after Phoniex.

Just an idea (flame me if you want). How about allowing coaching only at the East Coast Cup?

Keep discussing the topic... I have been reading all of the emails and posts.

I will back you in whatever choice you make Chad, but I do think that we should allow people to get involved on the sidelines. World Cup is going to have people all along the sidelines yelling on to the field during all of your matches. Yes, I agree that true coaching belongs in XBall but the "coaching" you get in 5man CFOA and World Cup is done by random people, most of the time, or someone you know that is NOT on the roster. We all need to abide by one formats rules and regulations so we are all on the same level. This uniform set of rules is what will progress the growth of our sport, not the nit picking of rules to suit the region.

to tell you the truth i have changed my mind, since the season prize is entry to cup it would be better off to have coaching. it would prepare the team that gets the prize more for cup

Universal rules are universal rules. Coaching should be allowed in 5man.
