Looking towards the future for 'epics', not 'blockbusters' or simply great films I'm at a loss, as well. Mammoth projects are a rarity, and with this whole recession business I can't see a company committing to a 6 year project costing hundreds upon hundreds of millions of dollars.
I knew this was going to be posted while I was writing my original post, I just knew it. But while the matrix may be semi-revolutionary, the series in no way can be counted as epic imo. Band of Brothers on the other hand, I think can be even though technically its not a movie but still a defining piece of film for our generation.

you seriously can not say these are going to be "epic" movies ... at most, theyll make money because fanboys of the three will see them. granted, ill probably see transformers for the entertainment, but street fighter looks about as bad as dragonball and they supremely ****ed up what used to be G.I. Joe

Well during the Great Depression, movie ticket sales sky rocketed.

But then again, tickets didnt cost 10$ each.

Yeah, LotR was extremely legitimate in my opinion. And the next Terminator series should HOPEFULLY be muy excellente. At least I'm pretty sure Bale signed on for three of them.

And I think a lot of people are going to categorize the Bourne series as our generations epics, as well.
