friccero - I already stated my opinion from a different point of view. It would bother the **** out of me not being able to pull the trigger and know a shot is coming out. .5 a second is WAY to slow, you can easily shoot faster then that with a pump. I dont think it will make the game fun in any way for new players. Again, it may get them hooked on paintball but when they realize NOBODY else in paintball plays like that it will probably ruin it for them. Dont assume i havnt looked at this every way i could because i have, it just seems like a really ******* idea. Im not surpised in the least that SP would release yet another worthless thign to the paintball industry.

So eventually it will be a "standard" mode. Hopefully it can be changed to 2 bps, that would be better in my opinion.

according to the smart parts techs this will be a field only mode

I actually like the idea since it will make it for fun for first time players. I just hope that SP does not try to patent the idea of limiting the rof.

You on the other hand...
He's pointing out opinions based on conjecture, not reality. See, he has no basis on the reality of this situation because he hasn't experienced it.

I, on the other hand, have participated in forums under very similar circumstances. It was fun.

Sitting on the internet and theorizing is fun and all, but it doesn't do you much good.

I find it humorus that sooo many people think that if you play paintball you play to become a serious tournament baller. some people only come to play paintball to have a good time, and if this is as fun as people claim then cudos to SP for finding another way to sell people FUN!

when i first read this i could not believe it. but maybe it is a good idea for rentals, young first time players, team drills etc.
funny to see this idea come to life in a world of super fast hoppers and 1400.00 guns. i hope this is succesful.

Ok guys... we are not trying to impose anything on any field. This is an option to them as they add on new rental guns to their fleet. At the paintball xtravaganza in Atlanta, Billy Ball was the big hit. And that was an all store and field event... and if most of the dealers love it, we must be doing something right.

Also... I find that people here like to knock things down of what they do not understand, and for some of you, that may be the case. I would recommend that you play it first... it is a riot.

We are playing this Friday at AAPP if anyone want to join in... 6:30 on the XBALL Field. We will have the markers

You know what would be really useful? Having this mode as a preset on a marker that was fully adjustable by .25BPS increments from .5 up to 25 or 30 or whatever. That way not only do I get "Billy Ball" I don't have to worry about future increases or decreases in the ROF cap...ever.

Seriously though...I don't like Smart Parts, probably for a lot the same reasons as most everybody else who doesn't like Smart Parts. HOWEVER, this is actually not such a bad idea to me. New players, in general, are afraid to get shot up, this would definitely take that fear away...barring extreme bad luck you're only going to get hit once, or MAYBE twice.

They can decide later whether or not they want to play "with the big boys" and run the risk of getting really lit up.

If we were talking about a fully controlled environment like a closed party group, or a field with enough business to split its groups it might even make sense to have several low ROF cap settings for the guns, maybe start with .5 for some groups and then go up to 2.5 or 5 as the kids get a little more bold. That way you can kind of ease them in and beyond the whole "I'm afraid to get shot X-# of times" thing.

After that they'll know whether or not they like paintball well enough to really give it a go with the "big boys" and if that doesn't suit them, they'll have something to move back down to where they'll be comfortable and have fun. It provides a necessary gray area for the newer player where they can get their bearings in the game/sport without having to take too many lumps.

This idea, while maybe not perfect, is an interesting solution to the problem of keeping new players with paintball longer, or even keeping people who are uninterested in playing paintball in the long term doing it occasionally.

for fun im sure it would be a good time.
well its a good thing you only have to deal with 10 bps now, isnt it.

it doesnt help much because how many teams use smartparts vibes? esp the rental version.
