Hope this is the right place to ask questions since I was told to take it somewhere else on my thread .
Well, I'm still fairly new to guitar and I have an electronic tuner which only reads the EADGBE with lights for flat, in tune, and sharp, so how to i go from a drop d (DADGBE) to drop C using the tuner. I have been just tuning it down two lights (for example the low D would get dropped from the "in tune" light to Db and then one more to a #....am I right? I just want to make sure I am getting this right or not since I really don't get how to make the in-between letters (F, C, and such) if that makes any sense...I find it quite funny because I think I'm becoming pretty decent at reading and playing tabs of a lot of songs I really like, yet I have no knowledge of the simplest things most guitar players know lol. Thanks for all the help and hopefully I don't get flamed too badly .

Sounds like you're tuning it wrong. When you tune down to D tune by the 12th fret (assuming your intonation is set well) so that the 12th fret reads a D.

I can tune to drop D no problem, it's C that I don't get. I just need to know how to get to C from D using the electronic tuner pretty much. to go from D to C# would you turn the D into what would show up on the tuner as Db? In other words is the C# the same as the Db shown on the tuner?

cool . That's what I was looking to know. That answers my question then thanks! So, would dropping all the rest of the notes when I am set up to drop D to flat give me the (C# G# C# F# A# D#)? In other words like Db is the same pitch as C#, is Ab the same as G#, Gb the same as F# and so on? or does the rule not apply the same throughout all strings? Thanks for the help

Well you can drop any note a half step, you just might use the wrong name for it. For example if you drop F a half step you won't have Fb, you'll have an E natural because there's only a half step between the two. And if you drop C a half step you would have B.

so that's a yes correct? I think pretty much what you are saying is that what the electronic tuner shows isn't actually what it would be called at all times, correct? So when you drop a note from tune to flat that's called a half step (or 1 fret down) right? I really appreciate you clearing this up for me. It's been confusing me for a while now lol.

I don't really know how you would do that easily. Do you have a picture of the tuner you have?

Yes, except for B and E. They don't have sharps. I'm talking about the individual notes not the strings.

What I would do is just buy an electronic tuner that shows the whole note spectrum. or, you can try barring the second fret when you tune. On the second fret, drop C would sound exactly like drop d, if you know what drop d sounds like. Just fret second or put a capo on second and tune from there.

Does anybody know what year a Les Paul Black Beauty would be if it had stock Grovers and the solid clear see though cylinder knobs? Sorry I don't have a pic or the serial at the moment. I'm thinking 89 but I'm not sure.

Sorry, big as in the C shaped neck.
I ended up getting the Jaguar HH, but I have been having problems with the pickups because they don't come wax potted and they give crazy microphonic feedback.

So I have this microphone that I've had for a few years and I don't know if it's any good/worth anything.
It's a Realistic Highball Dynamic Microphone. Thats what it says on it...can anyone tell me anything about it?

Usually green dyed tops look bad. But that one is legit. Nice top but a little to much abalone for my taste.

I see that other people have asked questions... and this doesn't deserve a thread so, what are best acoustic strings for a beginner?

Beginner or not, it's always good to have the best strings possible. I personally love Elixirs when it comes to acoustic strings. Give them a try.

I second the move to get elixirs. They sound great and last a long time.
