To be honest, I've had minimal experience with both pedals. The Bad Monkey was free through a friend, and I still need a power cord for it, but I've messed around with it some with a 9V battery.
What I love about it, is how it is a very discrete effect. Meaning, it really won't change your tone much other than the slight boost. The high and low parameters or fairly interactive, the gain and level parameters don't change a whole hell of a lot. That can be good or bad, but for me it's good.
I consider myself a "purist" and do not like to use tons of effects. I like how this one keeps the tone of the guitar true, but still adds some "umph". It's not a pedal that will make your overdrive go into world domination mode and eat babies, but if you are looking for a nice clean boost for bluesy/crunchy stuff, I highly recommend it.
I know a lot of people using high end gear like PRS/Mesa stuff, and still have a 40 dollar Bad Monkey in the line-up, and they swear by it.

Mhmm, just give the tubes that 'extra push'...
Just seems like the TS8/9 circuits been around forever and is so well-known.

Yeah it seems like everyone has a Tube Screamer somewhere on the pedal board. Something I am REALLY wanting to check out is a Fulltone OCD. I haven't heard one bad thing about them.

Don't mind the electrical tape, just use it to experiment with designs and such until I find one I can settle on. 1986 Ibanez RG550 (I believe, not 100% on it) One of the first Ibanezs to use the Floyd Rose, and the wizard neck still feels great after all these years. Shes my little proggy machine, and shes never leaving my side. Still running it through a meh amp, but I'm getting an old school tube amp from my dad, so I'm pretty psyched for that. Looking at some older Marshall heads too.

I was going to post my stuff, but my camera batteries are dead and I'm not getting new ones tonight, so tomorrow I guess!
Also, while I'm posting you me ask you a question about strings. What's the best gauge to be resilient to a great range of different tunings, like from standard to drop B? I was using extra lights(.009), but they didn't do so well in drop C tuning, so I moved up to Extra lights +, but they don't do well when going to drop B. I need something that keeps their tune fairly well in standard as well as the really low tunings. And, after writing all this, I really wish I had a Floyd Rose tremolo. Anyone know where I can get one for a Strat?
