Question...

What is your reason for not playing NSL?
Please choose from the following:

1) Donít like the lowest cost of any paintball format.
2) Donít like the fact that it only takes 2 hours from start to finish
3) Donít like only having to buy 1 case of paint
4) Donít like having the chance to play for free all year
5) Donít like that there is no travel involved

Thatís right, the National Speedball League is more cost effective, takes less time out of your day and gives a player a chance at playing for free all year.

It is a sales pitch. That's why. The nsl is a different format from traditional "speedball". If you haven't tried it, I'd say at least give it a shot. I tried it a couple times, it is very unique and I found it enjoyable. Not the format for me, but really need to at it a little before making a decision. The videos and info didn't do it justice, at least not back when I tried it.

Worst thing that could happen, you get hit with a paintball or two. Lol.

Yes NSL is a bit of a different way to play. Its still shooting paint, still scoring points, but with a couple twists. VERY fast format...if you are used to playing PSP, NPPl style of play...NSL is faster and requires more cardio, teamwork and coaching then anything you have played before.

Agreed, the videos do not do it justice. If you have a chance to demo it, i suggest trying it.

The info on the format is not well presented.

Why would you think a format that differs from the one that the rest of the world plays would be successful?

How long have you been playing?

Formats and play style change in paintball, and have been successful...

From 15 man games to 10 man, to 7 man to 5 man. From 45 minute games in the woods, to 20 minute games on airball. Things change. No matter what style or format you play, its still paintball. Rules change and get added every year in paintball and people still play and formats continue to expand.

NSL is simply another style of play, still faster than what you currently play...but all in all, still paintball.

Since you asked. My first game ever was in 1992. Started playing regularly in 1996. 5 man, 10 man, played my first x-ball event at World Cup 2003. You could have just looked at my join date to get an idea that I didn't start playing yesterday.

Really X-Ball/race-to is still just 5 man center flag. While 7 man is just 10 man with 3 less people on the field. All you end up really doing in this day and age is play more than 1 game to determine who won the matchup.

These contrived rulesets for NSL have been tried before in Steve Davidson's USPL that was a complete failure.

You are also vying for the dollar of a pretty small crowd when it comes to paintball in the NW, and a scene that seems pretty fractured as to what they are willing to support beyond WCPS.

NSL is nation wide with separate regions, competing for an overall title/win.

Cost of NSL is less expensive than wcps/ninja and you get to play more.

The other advantage is that young kids/new players wanting to play competitive but not sure how to start, can do so in NSL, while learning from more experienced players. Its a perfect way for players to move up in skill.

And now with Elite teams, those player with the skill set, can now play for free all year.

Just because someone may have tried to create a similar format and failed, does not mean that the current people in charge of NSL will make the same mistakes. I know the commissioner of NSL on a personal level and know that he is doing things the right way to make this a success. He is more concerned about the players and field owners then he his about making a buck. No other league can say that, not even PSP or NPPL.

I'm still confused. Is NSL coming to Oregon/Washington? If so, when will it start?

No offense, but I'm not sure from your post if you're fishing, trying to bring the new format here, trying to find more teams for a format already here, or just really excited about a new format. I only found some of my answers by googling the NSL, since your link is broken. It's all rather confusing and I like paintball because it's simple - point and shoot the other guy! :-)

NSL has been in Washington for 3 years as well as Nevada. Has been in Idaho for this past year.

This coming year, there will be a second region in Wa. as well as Georgia and I think Texas or somewhere down there...

Just posing the question to draw interest from players who may not have heard it or tried it yet.

Where are you located?

I manage a field here in Washington. We will most likely hold the combine for NSL in Feb or March, then season starts in April. You can contact Red Dot Paintball for more info.
