look in the used market. mesa rectoverb, mesa mark III, peavey 6505 or XXX, Blackstar HT-5 and 2x12 cab, marshall jcm800 + a boost pedal. get a combo unless you like lugging around over 150lbs of gear.

hell, anything over 50 watts is overkill unless you are selling out stadiums, and even then, I'd rather have 2 50w amps in stereo.

Yeah, the only real advantage to having a head/cabinet type amp is the availability to mix speakers and whatever. Most are absurdly loud. I'd much rather have a 40w combo, that's just about perfect.

I think its easier to move a head and a cab around than a combo.

How is that? Most cabs are bigger or at least the same size as a combo, then there's the head, then the speaker cables, power cord, whereas a combo is just power cord, and you're done.

Just bought this:
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/p...dal?sku=150787

Had 100 dollar gift certificate I needed to dip out of, and I've heard great things about these. Next, is a Tube Screamer and a few cables and I'm done!

Its easier to carry 2 lighter parts than one huge one. And cables, really? "**** man I moved the amp in, but **** that speaker cable."

Scott: Man, buy my Tube Driver instead of a Tubescreamer. Tube Drivers have tubes!

Too many parts to move, too easy to forget something.

I'll check into it man. How much, and who makes it? I did a search and came up with a couple different companies.

This, also Mesa DC3 or 5 will do quite well for metal

Lemme know how you like it if I was to get a wah pedal I think Id hit that. I like how you can just step on it to engage it rather than click it all the way down.
