Once again, I wouldn't suggest anything over 30 watts if you're looking at tube amps. Unless you're playing at shows, you don't need anything more than 15 to even be able to jam/do small gigs with people.

Tube amps sound better as their volume is cranked. You can't crank the volume past 1 or 2 on those 100 watt tube amps unless you're standing on a stage with a good deal of room from the amp to you and you have a large crowd.

The Fender Blues Jr. is an awesome little amp you should look in to. Eric Clapton often uses one to record his studio work. You could also look into the Orange Tiny Terror. It's switchable between 7 and 15 watts, so it's perfect for when you can't be too loud (apartment, dorm, parent's house, etc.), but the 15 watts setting still works for jamming with others.

But it's really all up to you as to what kind of amp you want.

I'm considering snagging a Tiny Terror sometime, just because.

*EDIT* Question, could I run a Tiny Terror head through the speakers on my Valveking? Like say if I wanted to use the TT at practice or dicking around at home, and then the VK for when I'm cranking **** outside or at an outdoor gig (which is what most of them are in PA).

Never buy a cheap plastic back. Especially one that isn't an Ovation.

Snag a cheaper Ibanez. You really can't go wrong there. They sound very decent for what they are, but you won't break the bank should you not get into guitar that much.

Im not familiar with the VK but if you look on the back and see a cable going from the speaker to the amp and you can unplug it then you should be able to do it. Only problem being you may need to unsolder the connections to the speaker and get a longer speaker cable to connect it to the TT.

Yea, I just fiddled around with it, and it's doable.

I just don't know if I can justify $500 for a Tiny Terror JUST so I can have a decent tube sound when playing in my room.

Like, I wanted one when I first was getting an amp, but I ended up with something with more power because I want it to be versatile enough to let me play those loud, outdoor shows that require a lot of volume.
