new/old scepter difference?

The self aligning system was reversed. The tip now has the domed section, and the tip is the squared off section (as opposed to the insert having the domed section on the old style). It locks the inserts in more securely.

But they perform the same.

so does this mean that if i have the old inserts, but wanted the new barrel then it would not work?

You can use your old back, but you need a new style tip for the new style inserts.
