Awesome.
Will have some new pics up soon.
I ride a custom Pake, singlespeed. I haven't tried any fixed gear riding yet.

EDIT:
My digital camera is MIA, cell phone will have to do.
Finished this back in June.

It's getting better. At first it was awful - actual solid wood.
I have a few plans for new parts, the seat is one.

word i have been thinking about a saddle just to complete the classic road bike look im going for but i dont think i want to ride a rock for a month or two. that and i cant really justify the money for a real saddle when i have a seat that works just fine.

Yeah I hear.
Didn't do much research before buying, just liked that Honey Brown.
Prolly would have went a different way if I knew how hard it was going to be.

Can you at least skid?

If not here is an explanation for you or whoever else doesn't know how to skid but wants to learn. the basic way to get a skid is figure out whatever foot you feel most comfortable with being back in a skid. then when that foot is at about 9 o'clock and coming down towards 6 o'clock in your pedal stride you wanna throw yourself foreword while straightening your back leg out all the way. The best way to achieve this is brace yourself against your bars. you will eventually get the motion and such down that you wont have to lock on the bars anymore.

that is the best i can explain it in words without being able to show you. there is probably videos on youtube to show you how to do some of the more technical stuff. best way is to just see someone do it in a picture or video or in the street then just go for it and try it yourself. and remember that for some reason its easier to do everything including tricks on a fixie with a little bit of speed.

and @kmarriner what kind of toe clips are those? i saw some like that the other day on another bike and like the design with no side crap. i just cant find em anywhere.

I ride a single speed beach cruiser. The main reason I chose single speed though is for maintenance reasons. I have noticed that my leg strength and stamina on the bike has increased a lot since I've been riding it 2-3 miles every day.

I can't deal with the straps as I get caught coming out of them and I am trying as hard as I can not to fall at all because it may **** up my arm.

Is ther anything online that shows how to convert and a list of all tools and parts needed? I found a bike at goodwill that would make a sick fixie but I'm not good with this stuff.

I'm failing in understanding the point behind a "fixed gear" bike?

Big brother of the BMX?

I still feel that varable gears are only for people over forty-five.
Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer?
We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!
--Henri Desgrange, L'quipe article of 1902

But really it's a personal preference thing, having more control/"becoming one with the bike".

There are many reasons, including: Fun, Fitness, Form, Feel & 'Ficciency

I'm just copy and pasting today. Lazy Sunday.

Any of that come close to answering your question?

BMX's are singlespeeds, not fixed gears.

I guess that kinda answers it, but I'm still not past believing that a fixed gear is really impractical. Looking at the back tooth wheel, it seems like it would be pretty hard to go any distance uphill...

You ride them only on level surfaces?

And what's the difference between a singlespeed and a fixed?
