Agreed. Also you can still cheat in ramping at 13.3. There are cheater boards.

With that said, I am one of the original inventors of the cheater board, I had one in my 4x4, then my Angel, followed by Eblades and Timmys. I have since retired, due to the fact the PSP has pretty much put a nix on the entire program, and the few teams in the NPPL who did have board, were getting them direct from their guys... Not me.

While I haven't sold a board in several years now, I assure you that the technology in cheater chips is better then anything you will ever have to catch it. With wireless equipment becoming dirt cheap, and extremely small one can now enable and disable modes from a mile away if needed. I have designed a few chips for fun, that work off of a remote switch that someone in the crowd has. When the button is depressed the gun is in cheater mode, let go, out of cheat mode...

The reason for the cap in the PSP wasn't because they wanted to limit paint, cut costs, or manipulate the way the game is played. It was because they couldn't come up with a good way to test for semi-auto.

My opinion on the subject, moot... But I just wanted to add that bit of information.

i am not a 7man team player however my opinion is leave it as is and let the players choose. i did not hear my complaints last year about the 7man teams ramping. this is not nppl, psp, uspl or whatever, it is the gpl and i like they mix it up a bit. last year the argument was that that was not true 7man format, but what really is? does not matter, gpl is not trying to copy anything, they are not feeding anything, so let it be. let the players choose and be on with it. puts a nice spin on a current format. if anyone remembers, gpl is known for doing things different. they were one of the first places to run a 4man division. i think it was about 10 years ago. they are not known for following the pack, just keep it 13.33 or uncapped, let the players choice

Thanks for responding to my thread. I have to say I DO NOT agree with the PSP, which has been my home league for more that 5 years now. I would choose to keep it 13.3

That is certainly not the question.

Thank you everyone for your input. Brian and Cyndi have been discussing details with Rick Guyer (my co-ultimate) and I in regards to rules etc.. I am hoping to have closure around the first of March, plenty of time for any teams to make needed arrangements. In the mean time, I hope everyone has enjoyed their holidays and is looking forward to getting back into the swing of things. I know personally it has felt like there is no off season.

semi is the way to go! Always was, and always will be. All other forms are taking the skill out of the game! But, maybe thats what all of you need to keep pace : )

I am not saying I agree of disagree - simply answering the question you have asked. Simply put it was to offer a change to those players who wanted an option.

Yes. Thanks Dave. I did speak to a couple captains from teams that placed last season. Surprisingly I found that of those teams that placed, it was a mix of ramping and semi markers. More players than I had expected decided to use the semi mode of fire because they felt they could consistently fire faster than the ramping cap. Additionally the concensus was that the ramping did not affect the play positively or negatively. It was a player by player basis as to who "chose" to haev what gun setting. This is exactly what I was hoping....to give the option of both.

From the days at Del Hobbies for 2 years all I heard was complaints about no ramping. The bottom line was that in that situation Del Hobbies would have had to pay more $$ on their insurance to allow it (which was common practice among many paintball insurance providers). Simply put we were compelled not to allow it for reasons completely other than a personal opinion.

However with the move to ECX, now OA Chesapeake City, that opportunity to provide the public what they had been asking for presented itself.

In all at a standard GPL event there are between 100 to 120 teams. This means out of the possible 600+ players at an event, only about 160 are playing 7-man. That is a little over 25%. So my question is really this..and I'll be the first to say I disagree with the PSP and their range of bps for the league....

Does the GPL want to completely stop ramping paintball markers in 7 man because 60 or 70 players (now 1/10th of the player body) thinks it is a bad idea?

I am not saying we, the GPL, are going one way or another. Right now Cyndi and Brian are going over their details and consulting with Rick Guyer, and myself as co-ultimates for the event to get a common concensus. The bottom line was TRULY, I wanted your input. I value your opinion. I appreciate your feedback. Our decision will be expected by about March 22nd to the first of April, about the same time the final rules updates will be available.

Keep 7 man all semi, and everything else can be a mix of ramping and semi.

Great answer Big E.... I enjoyed last year more then others.. The gun hunt quest...was easier to fine the illegalls then years past.. you could hear it.. Reffing got better and its the gpl not any other league of the past or present.

last years choice...was best for all. No matter either way, just wanta ball... lets get the first event here already...
