Worth it?
Hey all I am seriously thinking about flying down to Phoenix (After work on Friday) to watch the Saturday and Sunday games. It is only going to cost me like $250 to fly down, and I have a free place to stay in Surprise (just NW of Glendale). So my only other expenses would be food, beer, taxis and fun money. So I figure around $750 for the weekend.
I have never been to a national event (grew up playing ball in Alaska and now live in Seattle), but I watch all the webcasts I can. Do you think it is worth it to fly down just for the weekend... I have 4 vacation days to last me until the middle of June so I may take Friday off and fly down Thursday night.

Oh I will probably hit up the cup this year as well (for a real vacation). Just wondering if the season opener is big? Of course all the pro teams will be there but I mean spectator and vendor wise.

The money isn't the issue if it is worth flying down... I get to see some awesome paintball action, get out of the crappy Seattle weather for a weekend, get to attend the national opening event (and my first national event) in the year that paintball will drastically change... Sounds good to me.

I am planning on hitting WC09 as well, but Phoenix is cheap (close and no hotel needed). I live in Seattle so heading all the way out to Chicago is a bit expensive.
(Got a real job now, so traveling isn't so bad, but it cuts in on my play time)

beat me to it.
I would never want to go to a national event without a friend or two to stay with.

i've been to an event or 2 that i didnt play in at all
granted i was with a lot of friends so that made it better but
if you've never been to a national event and you have the $$
and opportunity by all means take it you never know what might
come up later this year to prevent you from going to cup or whatever else.

I am always pretty much a loner, but there will be at least 4 local teams down there and a few others from the area. CDR (D1 and D3), PTN (D2), Shamless (D2), Steel (?), and we tend to support the OR teams as well. I will have plenty to do I aint worried about that. Plus I'll have the Dogs and The Men to watch.

Phoenix is a cool place, Im not sure if its worth $750 for the 2 days.
MAO should be pretty cool, but Id rather go to phoenix IMO.
Chicago is tight, def. go there.
and of course... WorldCup. is a must.

Well it's $250 for my plane ticket... I have free room cause I have family that snowbirds to Surprise, so I guessed at $500 fun money (pubs + food + swag)...
