Upgrade my tickler?

So I have some cash from Xmas and I'm planning on a Belsales Evo 44 Magnum with QEVs.

My Karni has a WGP Tickler LPR currently - should I upgrade to a Evolution LPR while I have the front apart?

Plus - while I'm at it, is the Belsales bolt any better than the stock Karni bolt?

keep all the stock parts... if you're gonna change anything, get AKA LPR and HPR, a feedneck of your choice and midblock the body.

The only LPRs I'd replace a tickler for would be a Palmer Micro Rock or AKA SCMIII.

As to the bolt - stock is more than fine.

AKA or palmers on the lpr, like mentioned above. you will never look back in regret at the choice, ever.

I would definitely upgrade that tickler. I've gone through so many of them it's not even funny. The little cup-seal on the end of the piston always goes bad, and then the lpr won't hold back the pressure from your main reg, which can blow your solenoid gasket if you don't catch it in time.

Not to mention, they don't recharge very fast, especially when set at a really low pressure (MQ'd guns.)

Sadly, I must put up with my tickler for awhile longer until I have the funds to buy an AKA. It's a shame to have something so crappy on such an awesome gun...

the tickler on mine doesnt give me any problems, but if i ever were to upgrade, it would be AKA all the way.

and the stock bolt is great too, no need to upgrade it. but if you have to look into the slik edge 3.

I have rebuilt my tickler once in 4 or 5 years, no issues for me.

I can say for certain that if you have a working cocker that shoots just fine you are one of the three, or all of the above. 1- you are not an idiot. 2- you know someone who is not an idiot. 3- you have enough money to pay someone who is not an idiot. - jonotwist

But can a tickler actually handle faster speeds? It's so damn small it seems like there's just not enough volume.

Well I will honestly say that all I can sustain consistently is 12-13bps. But this of course doesn't mean I don't get faster peaks of 17-18bps. I think a lot of people don't understand that difference. Yea I can hit that peak, but only for a couple rounds. The concern I'd have is the tickler not being able to handle those peaks. I mean common sense would tell me that loneassasin isn't BS'ing when he says this:

my tickler worked at 26bps...it just has to have a slightly higher pressure.

course im not using an mq'd gun so i dont really need a high flowing, fast recharging lpr than can work at a low psi.

I think low psi is the key here. I never had a problem (other than the cup-seals failing) when I ran a standard valve shooting 15bps on PSP mode; it kept up just fine without shootdown.

But with my MQ2, I'm attempting to run my lpr stupidly low, somewhere in the range of 30psi I'd guess. I tune my gun to shoot just slightly over what I can pull on semi, which is 14bps. It will easily keep up in training mode, but when I'm actually shooting paint, the tickler doesn't seem to recharge fast enough at a lower pressure setting, so I get shootdown.

I have a hunch that a larger volume, higher quality lpr like the AKA would keep up at a low pressure like that.

Ah I get it. Yah I wouldn't want to sacrifice low cycling pressure for weight or size savings.
