Exclamation ROF is Officially 10 bps for ALL Levels

Someone posted somewhere about why do the 12bps rof? You don't get to 12 in the PSP until you reach semi-pro and pro. After thinking about this and discussing this with some other sources and reading about 22 pages of posts on the PSP forum, I've decide to make it official to change the ROF to 10bps across the board.

The reason why 10 for all levels is because 99.9% of all the players that play in the MPS will not play in semi-pro or pro. Even if they do, they will have played in D2 and D1 in the PSP at 10bps anyways so why not make the MPS 10.

Everyone that I talk to is in favor of reducing the ROF and I am liking it too. My daughter and her friends tried playing last year and she doesn't play anymore because they were too intimidated. By lowering the ROF will hopefully help out that situation for all new players entering into the sport and HOPEFULLY grow the number of local teams again.

I hope you all agree.

So as of today, you have about 3 months to either update the software in your existing boards or purchase a new board that will allow you to set your ROF to 10.

for you new players... if you are unsure on how to set your board or don't know if you have a board that can be set, contact your local pro shop.

Thanks,

Dan

L3 ramping would make me a happy panda.
I cant imagine semi at 10, my fingers will move faster then whats being fired.

From what I understand even on the stock Mini you can adjust the ROF down to 10. The reason from what I understand the Mini's jumpt to 15 at ramp is because that is what the default ROF is set at, but if you change that then you should be good to go.

I will get my daughters out this weekend and try it.

Worse case scenario for you is you can buy a new board, I am pretty sure the Tadao has that capability plus a lot more firing options.

Scared of what? 10 bps? Or using a cocker again? lol But theres no need for these exspensive guns, boards, and faster loaders anymore. Later in the year I think that we all may see a lot less money coming in for paintball. But it may make the turnout for tourneys bigger. We will just have to see.

What I think that the real reason that the psp came up with this 10 bps stuff...USA Today says that 30,000 people are killed by firearms every year and two and a half times as many die from an obesity related illness. USA Today also says that over 35% of the US is overweight. I think the PSP is trying to get fat people into paintball. 10bps is easier to run through than 13 BPS. And thier numbers of players didnt go up this year so they are lowering the BPS one more time to see if it will work, and get them more fat people. Of course Im just kidding.

Some of you guys who don’t like this change are having the same reaction that a lot of the PSP players are having. It is understandable that you don’t like change. However, please see the positives in this decision.

After reading a lot of what Chris Raehl has to say on the PSP forums, he has some good points. One of his strongest points was that several industry leaders have argued recently that the increased ROF and the new boards that have come out over the years are ruining the sport. Their argument was that each year more and more players are either quitting the sport because they can’t afford to play and because not as many new players are starting up.

Let’s take for example a kid who goes to his local field with their spyder he just got only to be dominated by a tourney player who is ramping and shooting at 15bps. Do you think that player is going to play again?? Doubtful. Take my daughter and her team for example. They played the first couple events last season but because are too intimidated to get back on the field again. Reducing the ROF may change my daughters mind and that would mean one more team for the series.

In my opinion reducing the ROF will be inviting towards new players to enter into the sport and in the long run, will be good for everyone. Yes, we know that shooting 15bps is fun for you experience players who have played this style for a while and yes, we know that shooting at a lower ROF will make you feel less inferior as a man, but let’s just give it a try and see what happens. If the leader of the industry is taking this approach, I think it is only logical that the MPS follows this same direction.

I don't think its going to matter that much. Especially in level 4. No one got over 6-8 balls a second anyways because of the gravity hopers. The only ones I think might have fits are the level 3 guys because your fingers are going to go faster in semi than your gun can shoot. Level 2 and 1 can just ramp and it won't be as big as deal. I guess the level 3 guys can just adjust your triggers for longer trigger pulls so it don't seem like your fingers are out shooting your gun.

But like I said, I don't think your going to notice it as much as everyone thinks. Its still 10 balls a second!!! Thats still a lot of paint coming at you. We're just going to have to become better shots instead of relying on accuracy by volume of paint we can shoot.

I think most of the dislike for 10 bps in L3 is because of the semi.
capping semi at 10 is gonna be so weird.
