A4 fly magnet mod

Anyone know how to do the MT magnet mod?

I know that I can buy the vernier wheels with magnets in them at PBsports, but isn't there some modding done to the trigger as well? Thanks in advance.

You can use a magnetic vernier wheel on the front and replace the front trigger pin with a non-plated set screw that will attract it. That's the easiest route to take. Results in a fairly snappy trigger pull that can be a little heavy depending on the magnet you use though. You can install an opposing magnet at the rear of the trigger paired with the rear magnetic vernier wheel as well, but that does require more modification to the trigger (you need to use an end mill bit to drill out a pocket for the magnet and then epoxy it into the trigger).

Any idea where to find a non plated set screw? Also, is there any way to get rid of the lateral trigger movement? Maybe by putting washers on both sides of the trigger? Big thanks to you, Dr. You're always very helpful.

Motherboard washers are perfect for shimming up the lateral movement.

As far as the set screw, any hardware store will have them. Just get plain steel (not stainless or galvanized).

just looked at the trigger pin. it doesn't line up perfectly to where the magnet would be seated. Is the magnet strong enough to attract it even though this is the case?

Yes, it'll still attract. Particularly if you use the larger of the two magnetic wheels. They throw off a pretty good field.

just curious, but does this mod make the angel trigger feel kind of like the old E1 Eblades?

A little bit, yeah. It's got that snappy feel to it. You can do it any number of ways, that's just the simplest. If you add an opposing rear magnet then it's a smoother, less snappy pull.
