I'm making a trip to Uwharrie (ohv park in NC) in May so I'm making sure I'm prepared. I recently put larger tires on my Commander, went from 29's to 32's and now my spare is basically useless as you can imagine. I plan on picking up a gently used 32 inch tire off CL just so they match.

My problem is that the spare will definitely not fit underneath my Jeep due to its size. Do you guys think it would be safe to mount the spare on the factory cross rails on the roof? It would be strictly for the weekend.

I could toss it in the back but I'd rather keep it outside the vehicle. I would ultimately like to buy a roof basket but I don't have the funds right now.

Fuel cell is done. Don't mind the makeshift mounting. Next week will be the good mount.

After lowering the now-too-high *** end (ditched ~180 lbs off the tail)

How many gallons? Is it a pain to fill up? curious about how much of a nuisance a fuel cell would be to a DD.....not that I'm anywhere near doing anything like that lol.

Ordered my next batch of parts:

Solid Diff Covers
LubeLocker Gaskets
Spartan Locker (D30)
Currie Ultimate Steering (Savvy tie rod)
Poison Spyder Power Steering Skid

My D30 Diff Cover is 3-5 weeks backordered though....and with Moab in T-minus 4 weeks, that'll be cuttin it close.

It will be fine. i used to put 6 to 7 pallets on top of my 90 cherokee and wratchet strap em down and go thru the trails to our bonfire spot. and they held just fine. If you do put it on top get a wratchet strap and criss cross it thru the tire and then thru the windows and wratchet it shut

^Thanks for the insight. I found some pictures of guys doing it on the Commander forums. It just took awhile to dig through all the old threads.

I have plenty of ratchet straps so I'll go this route for the weekend. Now I just need to find a decent AT spare on CL and hope someone will buy the factory Goodyear Fortera.

15 gallon RCI 2161a with GenRight ring and stock pump assembly. It's hardly noticeable with the windows out (Safari on) but with the windows in, you can hear the pump's high frequency whine. With the radio up a bit, you can''t hear it. For the huge increase in clearance and huge drop in weight off the tail, it's well worth it. I wheeled it all weekend and it was so awesome to not hit the gas tank skid while dropping off ledges or climbing steep steps. BTW, nice new upgrades. All good stuff. Look into flipping the tie rod (PM Blaine) while you're at it.

Just wonderin but are the headlight guards even necessary? Ive never had them and never had any problems. But then again I have a huge front bumper.

About as useful as a K&N filter.

Having electrical gremlins.

Brake light and turn signals don't work at all. I keep popping the minifuse behind the dash.

Replaced the minifuse, the second I touched the brake pedal, it popped again.

This happened overnight, was completely fine the day before.

What would do this? I'm thinking I have a wire grounded somewhere, or somethings wrong with the brake light switch...

So I bought a nice, used Goodyear AT-S off a local tire shop for $30 mounted/balanced. Went home and tossed it on the factory rails.

It's secured with 4 ratchet straps and a locking cable, so it shouldn't go anywhere.

Yes I know I need a legit roof basket.

move the roof racks so that the tire drops down onto the jeep less chance of it falling off especially if after you move them and the tre goes down you tighten the rails so they are hugging the tire

I'd rather not have the tire sit directly on the roof. Yesterday I drove about 30 miles with the tire up there, then I hit a local trail to try and loosen it up. It's still just as tight.

This is going to work fine for the next month or two for my trips to Uwharrie on the weekends. Hopefully I'll put back about $120-150 for a Surco rack by then.

Cell--$180 on ebay
GenRight ring--$100
Lines/Fittings--$140

Most of it was paid for by a guy I've done a bunch of work for so it's all good. If you're serious about clearance, do it. My rig is very low (stability) so I'm always trying to get more clearance any way I can. This, combined with the flat belly, is beastly. My *** end is no more than 2" over stock (at the crossmember) and it's sitting @ 24" from the ground. You can't beat that.

UPS Ground failure

I love spending $500 on a part, and having it show up to your door already broken. God dammit.

That's not broken....that's just the protective boot used during shipping. It's not used on installation.
