Thanks! However why do you feel that way about TJD30 vs TJD44?
The TJ Dana 44 has D30 outers. Going with a D44 in a DJ is actually not THAT much of an upgrade. The weak point of any front axle on TJ is the UJoints(which usually take out most of the front axle shaft when they go). Going with alloys or (if you have the cash) RCV front axle shafts is not only cheaper but more effective than dropping the cash on a built D44 IMO.
The R&P of a D30 is more than up to the task for anyone running 35" meat unless you're an animal on the throttle. I'm more of a technical crawler so I'm not worried at all. I always keep a spare set of shafts on hand just in case (like any smart jeeper does) but in 4+ years of running some pretty damn difficult trails I've yet to have an issue.
Atlas, however, will give me SIGNIFICANTLY more control over my crawl rate and remove a weak link in my driveline (NP231 is prone to stretching).

A TJ 44 front axle is NOT an upgrade over a HP30. I know of people who have swapped out the LP Rubi 44 front for a HP30. I'll take the HP axle for the drive-side ring gear strength and ease of setting the pinion angle to caster vs. a LP but slightly larger ring gear. I run a locked HP30 with 4.88's in the rocks @ 8 psi with no issues. Good hubs and Spicer u joints and ball joints are all you need.
As for a LP30, I wouldn't put a dollar into that axle. Go pull a HP30 and build it for 35's.

Thank you very much. I have many thousands more. Turns out, having an asian GF of 8 years is a plus in the "photographic memories" helps

The only difference in strength with a LP/HP axle is in the Ring and pinion. That's it. IMO I've rarely seen a 30 blow up in the R&P. It's almost always in the shafts. Usually when the R&P has failed it started outside the pumpkin. IMO spending the cash/effort in going HP30 is better spent in upgrading outside the pumpkin.
A D30 is PERFECTLY capable to holding up to 35s. Huge misconception to there. You a throttle junkie... running Swampers? Yep... good luck. You a smart wheeler who treats your rig as a tool rather than a battering ram? ZERO Issues. Holy Cross (to the top), Wheeler Lake, Poison Spider Mesa, Golden Spike, Lockhart Basin, Can Opener, Ultimate Adventure, Hells Revenge, you name it.... ran it on 35s on a D30. Locked. No issues.

Low Pinion and High Pinion in relation to axles
Got my heep up on a lift today...
Need my transmission, transfercase, and both differentials serviced.
My oil pan is dented by the drain plug, and my gasket is leaking.
My left and right inner tie rod ends are FUBAR....need new ends (or new steering!)
All 4 shocks are shot
All control arm bushings are cracking/over worn/stressed
Oh...and unexplained gear noise
Haha this is putting a dent into my suspension fund.

Then you run D60s... or a 14 Bolt chopped into a steering axle.

Low pinion axle means the pinion is on the lower half of the diff.... HP = High Pinion = Pinion on the top half of the diff. It has to do with rotation of the Ring & Pinion, and how they interlock with regards to that rotation. LP is stronger in the rear. HP is stronger in the front.
It's tiny, but:

Around us AAMCO has half off deals for transmission servicing all the time. Even with the expensive fluid the RE42 requires it comes to $40 or so. Cheaper than doing it yourself.
Diffs are easy. I went with lubelockers since I service mine every 20k miles or when I hit deep water.
Tie Rods : Look into the ZJ Tie rod conversion. Bumps you to 1" Bar Stock with much beefier ends for less than $100. I tacoed teh **** out of my OEM Steering but this has held up just fine since. Link to a post I made on my forum about it
Go to AutoZone and order the following parts:
ES2079S Adjusting Sleve (Usually In Stock)
ES3096L Short Tie Rod End (Usually In Stock)
DS1312 Long Tie Rod End (Usually Must Order)

I think you know the answer, so why ask?
My next set of tires will be 42" MTR's. I'm planning on using a FF14b in the rear and a HP60 in the front. That's a ways off. My Jeep is bulletproof for 35's and drives and wheels so well, it's gonna be tough for me to tear it down to a bare slate. A well built rig on 35's will go just about everywhere. I'm afraid the big tires will make most places I wheel boring.

This is my thought as well. IMO Unless you live near johnson valley or the like, you're better off sticking with 35 or maybe 37s max. I almost sorta miss running my 33s and keeping up with longarms on 35s. Sure it required a lot more attention but I liked the challenge.
For me, it's always going to be within the constraints of keeping it streetable. I have guys in our club that bust my balls with their 40" tires and want to bet $100 obstacles... I always reply with "Okay, my obstacle is we start at my house, drive to colorado, run hells revenge to the top, come back down, then drive back to Memphis.... no trailers"
