Tell your dad he and the news are full of ****. It has been confirmed from 1993-2008 there have only been 172 fatal fire crash's in Grand Cherokees. Now that is not 172 rear end explosions, that is engine, electrical, and external source fires that were fatal. If you look even further into it you will not 10 fatal crash's and 13 deaths can be linked to gas tank failure, I'd say that's pretty low for a vehicle designed in 1993. All this hype is NHTSA doing its job and alerting us to a potential problem that may or may not be accurate, more testing needs to be done to confirm we have another pinto on our hands. Crown vics were also considered to be a car that may explode if rear ended, but it turned out to be a few faulty older crown vics that were down on maintenance.
In short don't get to worked up over the Grand Cherokee hype, odds are your not going to explode.

Now to go on with my further posting, there is not one vehicle ever made that looks good with Bush Wacker flares on it. I've seen a lot of them cack and snap in my day.

First time I tried making a rounded edge using tube. The end result turned out good, but I screwed up where I placed my flat plate at. Live and learn, now I know.

I'm going to add a piece under the bumper sometime later.

If it looks crooked in this picture it's because it is. Didn't have all the bolts in it yet.

Not sure where you are getting 'prerunner' at. Customers vechicle not mine, if you don't like it then why waste the time it takes to post?

pre-runner's in quotes, as in pre-runner style where it is angled forward. wasn't sure what else to call that.

clearly just expressing my opinion

if you can't handle criticism, why post?

No problem with criticism; as long as is for something of mine, or something I did. Pretty clear that I was posting the bumper, not the whole jeep. Even then it still doesn't matter what I, or anyone thinks, as long as the customer is happy.

I drove a lifted Cherokee 280 miles 4 times in the past 2 weeks. If you set a jeep up perfectly and make sure there is no death wobble or anything they are great at speed. I got a ticket for 94mph 3 days ago and it was driving straight as an arrow at that speed.

No. I mean they are, but given the choice between an impreza and a Wrangler for a 250mile journey, I'd take the impreza every time.

and I LOVE my Wrangler.

depends on which model wrangler you have. I have a YJ and i drive it about 160 mile trips from school to home every now and then and its a pain. given i have leaf springs and a slow carb'd 4.2, it's just a pain but do able. but, if i was going to pick over the two in the winter, i would take the jeep every time. I was on the PA turnpike last year, and they ended up closing it and i was driving on at least 5in of fresh snow on the high way. I was never more happy to own such a beast in the snow.
