Most affordable exotic super car

Well things have gotten better so i am going to splurge. What's the most affordable used super car ? I'm thinking Acura NSX or maybe a lotus espirit ?

I would say a porsche boxster but that's not really a super car .

The esprit turbo is the only one I'd consider a "super car" of it's time period.

bugatti is pretty reasonable imo, it costs the factory more to make than it costs

the vette ZL-1 was technically a supercar

Exotic super car, and reasonable don't usually go hand in hand.

That said, I'd really like an NSX.

NSX is the only right answer if you plan on actually driving it often

Or Elise if you're into that sort of thing

The fact that it comes from jalopnik should lead you to question it's validity.

I thought it was common knowledge that Bugatti lost money on the whole Veyron thing.

it is common knowledge, 6 million was an overestimate which probably took development costs or something, the economist article says ~4.6 million

"The whole veyron thing," is different than "it costs more money to make a veyron than it sells for."

I don't think they're catching up by selling cars. Everything I've read points to them continuing to lose money as they've built/sold more cars.

They lose a **** ton per car just to make it, most of it's hand made.

More interesting than where it started. I refuse to believe it costs $8 million to build one single Bugatti veyron. It's not hand more "hand made" than tons of other cars that cost much less.

My guess is that the fact that they "lose money" on every one is because the Bugatti brand only has one car. So if you take all the start up costs, the factory, the R&D and divide it by the number of cars you get a negative number. But most of those costs are fixed, sunk costs. I bet each veyron has a positive contribution margin, and that each one turns a marginal profit, and they eat away at the fixed costs until the brand is profitable.

IMO if they lost money on each one they wouldn't continue to make them.
