From last years rules. I don't think they've changed.
Level 4 - 3Man Newbie (Intended for players with LITTLE or NO tourney experience)
- Returning Players: If you placed FIRST in Division 4 in any MPS event in 2007, you must bump up to Level 3
- New Players: No NPPL or PSP experience ever (This Does Include Young Guns)
- New Players: No Local Novice or Amateur tournament experience ever
- New Players: No more than 3 tournaments of experience
- All Level 4 players must use either 1) Mechanical Marker and any hopper or 2) Gravity Fed Hopper with any marker (Either the marker or the hopper can have a battery but not both)

Mechanical or Electronic?
Would you guys recommend an electronic with a gravity feed or mechanical marker with a e-loader?

mechanical with electric hopper.
because you depend on your fingers to shoot fast.
with the electric gun and gravity hopper. u depend on if the hopper will load fast enough, and trust me. there will be ALOT of chopped balls even if u do have eyes.

the team that won the overall l4 series last year used electric guns with shakers. i play on their sister team and didn't hear about chopped balls being a problem. play with the gun that you're comfortable with. if you've been playing with an electro gun for the past year, don't go buy a mech cocker just so you can shoot faster.

Actually neither will have a battery for me. I can play as long as there is an electrical outlet within 50 feet of the edge of the field.

The best setup for L4 is use an automag with your choice of a force feed hopper. The automag is a mechanical and can hit the 10bps cap easily. I saw this setup at an MPS L4 event a year back and this player dominated because he could fire way faster than the competition. He was easily hitting 12-15 bps. All the refs were shocked and couldn't call it illegal.

just a heads up, dan said the head reff will be checking for these kinds of set ups
if the head reff, Tim (correct me if im wrong), can get it over 10, then it is illeagal

The thing with automags is not only having to keep them under the 10 balls, but also make sure that it is one shot per pull. Mags have a habit of acquiring a sweet spot that allows 2 or 3 shot bursts. Most of the time it is not something someone is doing on purpose, but they are still benefiting from it. This will be checked.

Rate of Fire:
The Rate of Fire limit will be adjusted for 2009.
Race to 7: No more than one paintball per 80 milliseconds (12.5 bps)
Race to 2/4/5: No more than one paintball per 95 milliseconds (10.5 bps)
Mechanical semi-auto markers are permitted in all divisions, and is not subject to a minimum time between shots. Mechanical bounce, double-action or reactive-force triggers are prohibited. Markers containing any electronics whatsoever (batteries, circuit boards, etc) will be considered electronic markers.
Shouldn't that mean that level 4 can use any mechanical gun as long as the tigger don't have any bounce to it. Since we are following a lot of the psp rules, is this one of them thats going to be used. It don't matter to me because I don't play level 4, but it would be cool to see people shooting some of the older guns agian.
