QEVs on cocker rams

I've owned a mech '04 for a couple years and kept it bone stock, but now I've just bought an e2 and I'm looking to add QEVs to my ram. Problem is I have no idea how to install them or how many I need. I've seen some rams with just one on the end and then I've seen some with 2. How many do I need?

for an electro, it would be best to have two, most of the rams with just one QEV are usually mechs because it is extremely hard to time a mech cocker with 2 QEVS and tends to be very picky. Besides, many are sold in sets of two

If you have a stock 04 you'll most likely only be able to install 1 QEV on the stock ram (as most stock rams in 04 were STOs). You could drill and tap the rear to fit a second QEV but at that point you might as well just buy a new ram.

Some rams that take QEV's no problem (10-32 threads front and back)
  • ANS Mini Ram
  • Belsales/Eclipse Ram
  • Freeflow Ram

There are probably more... but those are the only ones I have owned and can vouch for performance wise.

^ moody is defo still around. we mention and use them a lot. MPP rams are excellent, especially for the price. only minus is no other colors. they take QEVs.

EDIT:not anymore

STOs take can take two QEVs:

Does it matter what brand of QEVs I get? Is there that much of a difference between brands?

not really. the eclipse qev's and the WGP trv's (same as a qev) were the only ones I've seen in black though. Performance wise they are all pretty much the same. As far as size, the WGP and Eclipse ones are also the smallest I've seen.

any qevs work. but called trv's by wgp.

Not exactly sure when this happened on time lines. but early sto's had 2 different size barbs, the later used 10/32 on front and back. my guess is the flat tipped is the 2 different sizes, and the round tipped rams were the same on front and back. just a guess that I need to look into.
early Karni's had sto rams with trv's and e1 boards. later they came with mp3 rams with intergrated qev's as well as e2 boards.
there are more details but those are the basics.
