Yes, and I thought nothing of it. Just means the marker is metered.

Heck, I have a marker design that uses a reverse "Classic" 'Cocker mode. That means the bolt stays forward while you hold the trigger.

I think, any more of this is just speculation until Andrew releases further details though.

It might be an idea I had kicking around. A highspeed way to measure to velocity of the ball as it went down the barrel mostlikely with a laser in the back of the bolt. And then adjust the velocity so it always shot a perfect 300 fps (280, 220, etc) everytime.

Did that already. I used the internals of the hand crono mounted on the front of the marker to read each shot and adjust the dwell up or down. BAsically, the board keeps chasing the FPS and adjusting the dwell. Didn't work as well as I hoped, but good enough to be useful. It works really well if you start on a cold morning and warms up later and you would start shooting hot without it. Or if you just want to grab your marker and start playing. It usually hit 260-280 within 5 shots. Very small increments (.5ms) worked best on the ION I was using. Only real downside is that the chrono circuit is a battery whore. It would only last one weekend of a Scenario Event.

I meant as the ball was traveling down the barrel to meansure the speed and adjust for that shot. Problem is you'd need a way to calibrate each barrel you used.

Not really, just need the distance traveled.

*edit* I did a writeup a while ago about a base-lined on-board chronograph.

Oh.... Wow, that would be sweet!!! but you'd have to have one heck of a fast response time..... Can't think of a way to adjust the speed before the ball exits the barrel. but give me a day and I'll rattle it around me brain.

To get it perfect you'd need more than just the distance, Cause after the effective length stuff will still effect the velocity. Of course this could be no where near what ydna has done.

I can't discuss ideas for on-board chronographs here, but suffice it to say that's not why this gun doesn't have dwell time. Chrono-dwell adjustment has actually been around for quite some time, nearly a decade. Several companies have wasted their resources claiming patents for it...

I'm glad people are thinking outside the box though. The marker itself is only such a useful design due to its integration with its peripheral hardware. No not talking about HUD....although that would be cool

In other news...I finished with a few other pieces of the assembly, will take pictures shortly...
