Post Warzone... Well played.

This past weekend had been the first time a group of us had visited the facility, outside of the traditional fields that surround Metro Detroit. The website and few players offered positive reviews on the facility, so we had to see it ourselves. We have covered most of our fields and or stores in our state, or within a three hour drive. This is what I found at Warzone.
  • Staff - Refs - One of the first things that caught my attention from the reffing staff had been the professionalism. The rules were explained thoroughly and enforced as stated. The amount of Refs on the field made the playing experience smooth and less chaotic than the traditional understaffed style we've all commonly seen. While taking their role serious, they had not forgotten about the element of "fun" and regularly humored the customers.
  • Staff - Management- When I visit a field or store, the owner seems to be a pace setter for the rest of the establishment. The less organized, demeaning, bad/god attitude, etc. often carries down to the staff which then is usually then redistributed to the customers... it had become apparent that this was not the case here. The management at this facility reflected directly on how their refs on the field had conducted themselves. Helpful, respectful, knowledgeable , and all around good people.
  • Facility - For those that have not been to other fields can attest that the condition of an establishment directly affects your playing experience. Indoor play always leaves me with a sour taste in my mouth, in paintball "indoor" has become synonymous with "filthy". Again, not the case. Both of the indoor fields were clean enough to eat from, thanks to the management recognizing this and designating employees and cleaning companies to maintain the fields. The outdoor had also offered something that is rarely seen in fields in southern Michigan... fun. Paint seemed to be only where it was meant to, which I believe again is another victory from the efforts of management and staff.
  • Atmosphere - Friendly and fun. You'll get your entrance/air's worth in a days time. The staff are laid back and easy going, but they make sure you are getting what you paid for even if that means the slowest of the bunch has to sit a game. The cliques are barely noticeable and you're not treated as an outsider or a threat to other regular players, as in some fields. Well balanced teams compensate for experienced players and the rentals to make every round a challenge for both teams. Note: Teams had been rearranged every 2-3 rounds to ensure evenly matched rounds.
  • Pricing - The pricing at the field is actually lower than I would have expected, after setting up and playing. There is a bit of confusing information on the website that, I'm guessing, illustrates the cost of paint that is not intended for use at the field. I'm not quite sure on the subject, but I try to give the benefit of the doubt unless told otherwise. Field is FPO and a flat $55.00/case, when the website stated differently. (See picture below). So it was basically an extra $10.00 per case than what the website said, which is really not a big deal. Everything offered at the field and the pro-shop is fairly priced so the paint issue is all I've found out of sync.

  • Overall - I honestly cannot say anything really "bad" about the field or the staff that run the place. This should be the industry standard. If Warzone continues to operate at this level, lower Michigan's fields may be in trouble.

Note: I am not affiliated with any company and/or field in the industry, this is just what I have experienced. Posts concerning fields, stores, owners, or players are not candy-coated... only my opinion, along with truth. As all my other posts in the "Official" field forums, they are written for the players benefit and none other... the players are what drives the game and deception only works for so long. Check this place out if you're interested in an amazing field.
