It will be an interesting year for sure. Hopefully some outside money will come in and help do it right. Other industries have gone through this before and now it is paintballs turn. Be sure to keep your eyes and ears open for some big things to happen in hawaii in 2009.

I have no doubt that someone will buy the league along with the name NPPL. I also believe the PSP will probably buy it.
I really wanted to play Huntington Beach looks like that is not going to happen now.

Holy crap what a loss for paintball...I dont play any of those leagues so they dont affect me but still, such a large franchise to go down like that...you gotta wonder how other leagues like psp are doing....all those players are going to be displaced into a lot of other leagues too...

Fixed.
Boston would be better in the middle because it would be too cold come late October. Also World Cup would be/feel like 100 degrees every day in the middle of the summer.

PSP cant just pick up seven man cuz it wont be the same. NPPL uses different size field and layouts. Which means that they would have to bring more fields and setup more. Plus you have to different sets of rules. One big difference is the side line coaching which is my main reason for liking NPPL over PSP. And other things like no ramp and what not, and rules like these were what made it more about team skills and not just being ran like a bot from the sidelines. So even if PSP picks up seven man its not going to be the same as it was in NPPL. |

Most people on here are saying how bad this is for paintball...What I believe you mean is how bad this is for tournament paintball. Trust me - the majority of our revenue does NOT come from tournament players or even holding tournaments. It comes from the casual rec player who has never played before. It comes from the weekend warrior who likes to play in the scenarios. Tournament players tend to want everything for free - get a deal on everything - how is that good for business?
I believe that Shawn Walker and the NPPL focused on the wrong things and in doing so spent a lot of money that simply didn't come back into the company via entry fees and what not.
Lane and the PSP would be fools to not try and capitalize on the NPPL failure - Not all 7-man teams will play x-ball, so expanding the 5-man offering (either more divisions or 7-man format) might be a way to attract even more teams to their events. But that also means the need for larger venues. Isn't someone putting in a large facility in the VA area?
