Seriously, I'm just ****ing around, being an ******* like a lot of people are here when it comes to traveling notebooks/netbooks.

I don't believe so. I'm pretty sure there is an option to save as a word document

Nope. OpenOffice will be able to open any Word document, including the new .docx extensions.

can't say i've seen the ones that are ssd only instead of ssd/cf combo anywhere besides asus's website, but that should fix your $100 problem, and then some. this one also says it's got the 40gb ssd, but according to the reviews, it doesn't.

hence the "and then some" part. i had originally thought it was only $100 less, had to re-open the tabs to check. proof, once again, that the egg is where it's at.

Compaqs that are shipped without recovery disks are usually partitioned into two different partitions. One contains all data that would be on a recovery disc and one that is your personal storage partition. At least that's how mine is. There should be some more stuff in the manuals you got with your laptop about this, explaining how to do wipe data off your hard drive.

Buy a 1000H on eBay and get 30% cashback.

Or, buy a 1000HA on eBay for less, and upgrade the hard drive to a SSD with much greater capacity than 40gb.

I got my 1000HA for 260 on eBay
