Wow, swing on NB205 nuts more.

I need a little help choosing what to get...There are basically three choices I've picked out so far, two of which are laptops that may or not be better than the netbook I've chosen..Let me know what you think.
Acer Aspire One
Compaq Presario
Toshiba Satellite
You can tell from that what my price range is...Max would have to be 350$.

What are you looking to do with it?
Is portability key? Do you need a large screen? Do you need a large keyboard?

Well the desktop im on now is my main computer for gaming and such so the laptop/netbook would just be used for the main computing..Browsing the internet, email, maybe some videos here and there.
Also if you're going to recommend another type then I'd really like the HDD to have over 100GB of space because it might also be used for some school work and such.
Edit: As with the ones I chose, I'd like to stay in the 10" or above range for the screen, don't really care much about the keyboard as long as it's well built and it's got SOME space, not all compact. I guess portability would be key as since I already have a main computer at the house. Also the reason I'm interested on the laptops side is because of the CD/DVD drive.

What do you think about the Asus Eee 1000HE model? I've been looking at the reviews on youtube for it and it seems like a good model...Or is it older?

It's not old, but it is a bit dated compared to all of the newer generation netbooks. The thing that sorta sets it apart from other netbooks is the nice battery life. Other than that, everything else is kinda meh.

Supposed to be the best netbook out, last time I checked at least... 9 hours of battery life while using it? Damn

I have it, it's great. The only gripe I have with it is the wireless card's a little weak. What I mean by that is your range is rather limited before you start getting random disconnects.
Anyone else have this issue with EeePC's?

If anyone likes dicking around with interesting OSes, the NetBSD -current snapshot has pretty much full support for my EeePC 701. Wifi with WPA, the NIC, ACPI, sound, and sleep all seem to work, though I haven't personally tested sleep and sound yet.
The 5.0 release doesn't support the ath(4) wifi, so make sure you get the latest HEAD snapshot.
I've been reading documentation and compiling **** for the past three days, so you might have some catching up to do if this interests you.

Nope, I have the 1000he as well and have had no problems with it, such an awesome netbook for the money.

Ok, looking for a netbook finally. Something that i can preview my images with on the go. So, needs USB connection (lol i know). But basically whats the best netbook in terms of processing power at the moment? I can add ram myself but CPU is basically the limiter for me. So i guess itd be best to start of with that.

I wouldn't be looking at netbooks if you want processing power.

Im not specifically looking for process power, but i figure if im going to get a netbook, i might aswell get the best cpu out there so it lasts the longest in terms of keeping up with technology.

I have the 1000ha, which is essentially the same. I personally really like it, it survived a trip around the world with only some slight problems with the LCD (hit by a soccer ball by punks in Spain), which I believe is still under warranty. Obviously it isn't as sleek as the never models, but it serves it's purpose wonderfully.

Anybody know if there is a Windows XP nLite guide for the Acer Aspire One? My mom just got one and she wants to get a minimal installation so she can use the rest of the hard drive to keep some of her music.
