imo reffing is an issue that GPL needs to seriously look into they claim not to be Bias but it just seems otherwise I don't think I'm the only one that feels that way Either. Ever since the move from Del's GPL just has not been fun and I don't see myself playing anymore events in the League unfortunatley along with my team and other's I don't really feel like going into full detail but you get my drift.A quick example is a player is blatantly hit in his knee I'm sitting in the deadbox watching for myself, instead of thoroughly checking him they look on only one side of him allowing the player to rub his hit on the bunker as a ref is sitting there looking in the other direction.

Other than that it was incredibly cold, of course out of there hands and they were running late as usual we didn't even bother competing for 3rd since most of our guys were getting sick already for being out in the cold for so long. Another thought, ik refs need there break but why take an hour break if your already running late on the schedule?

Just my personal Experience look at it how you want.

^^^^^^^agreed.....not saying my team was personally screwed, cause it happened to just about everyone i saw playing, but the reffing was a serous problem for the 7man field....between the phantom penalties and even worse explanations after a blown call, it was more than just an effect of the cold weather

i.e. a player runs down the snake side to bunker someone, is clearly shot in the back 8 or 9 steps before reaching his target, he continues to run.....head ref standing right besides two players who are shooting the runner from across field and tells them he is out and that the snake player will not be eliminated, only to be overruled by another ref because he said his angle in front of the play meant he saw the shots on the back of the player better than the head ref...............long story short, the head ref is overruled by his own "subordinates" and allows the call to stand

not a huge deal, a few points lost, but it's only one in a long list of atrocious/questionable calls

not bashing the reffing staff or anything, we played 5 man last event and i believe it was the velocity guys among others reffing and the did a pretty stellar job, but the crew on the 7man field made the cold weather the least of teams worries last weekend

reffing... 3 games with 1 for 1 s and our team had two 1 for 1s.
One of the 1 for 1s was our snake player snap shooting at his mirror he get hit on the side of his hopper which was hard to see for the snake player and gets a 1 for 1. the other 4 was just as bad

I would definitly agree.....refs werent to good at all....I had and witnessed many incidents where refs made bad calls and just were pretty much lazy....especially on 7 man field.......I had an incident where it frustrated me so much.....it came down to a 1v1 with myself and a player from sure shot....I was D side tape and he was walking not even knowing where i was facing snake thinking i was on that side...i wrapped him and clearly shot him numerous times when he quick jumped into the derito's (remind you there was 3-4 refs on the side where it happened).......he then kept running and he came to bunker me so I shot at him and he started shooting at me and it ended up with both of us just standing 3 feet from eachother shooting non stop until refs pulled us away....they said he was hit on his left side which would be the side that was facing me and the side that I shot at when he clearly had no clue I was there......they gave him the points and we got only 10 pts for the 2 eliminations.......def not a good call they didnt make sence one bit....just figured I would give an example

seriously though, no event is ever gonna be perfect... your not happy with the 1 for 1 calls then get out when your shot.. i have never ref'd an event but im sure its not the easiest thing to do, with all the teams arguing back and forth because they want the call to go their way..

if you don't like the calls the ref's make then don't let it come down to a ref's call.... goggle the guy next time. Basically what im trying to say is there will always be bad calls no matter what the sport is. You can't keep blaming the refs for everything.

Overall i believe the event went well. The paint was def good and i didn't have a problem with breaks in my gun at all. Yes there were some bad calls with refs but also i seen alot of good calls as well. I believe with the inner com system being down that def slowed down the process of getting the games started so that was a problem but I do believe they did a pretty good job without it. The 7man layout for 5man made for alot of stalemates but I would def like to see more 5man games on 7man layouts in the future. ( def fun to watch) ... well neways there is my opinion

Of course there's always gonna be good calls and bad calls, it's paintball, its just sometimes the call seems to go towards teams that the ref's seem to favor. Is it just me or is having the ultimate ref of the 7-man field playing on the opposing team kinda make you feel like your at a disadvantage? Penalties were not pulled when they should have been etc etc....what I want to stress is I'm not mad b.c I lost **** I've lost and won plenty of times I got a collection of medals sitting in my room to prove that I'm more disappointed b.c I didn't have a good time due to things that could have been avoided and that's why I got into paintball to have fun.

To Delaware that is a Good Point you brought up the Intercom was down and it was a bit difficult to get teams to come up.I'd like to give a thanks to cyndi for running around in the Cold weather calling teams all day way to be a soldier

The conditions were far less than ideal, especially in the finals, but I'm sure refs and players alike did their best. There were some damn tough teams in the end and we really enjoyed the opportunity to play against all of you.

It was definitely not the smoothest event of the year with regard to getting teams to the field and turning around games on time, but, again, circumstances were less than ideal for everyone.

iby you staying in the game to get that "paint check" your making it unfair for the other team, possibly changing the outcome by staying in for those extra few seconds.

Technically no. Pretty sure the only unobvious hit stated in rule book is in the pack. But sometimes hits to the hopper are unnoticeable, in my past 6 years of playing or so....

Techincally yes, it is an obvious hit, since the rule book says so.

I'd agree that many hopper hits are unnoticeable, but they are considered obvious hits.

Also, if you call a paint check and have an obvious hit you can still be called for a one for one. It is the ref's discretion.

Should be a 1 for 1. You think you got hit, ask for paint check, but play on,
