My favorite quote is from a book i read from the Ender's Game series. I'd seriously recommend the series because it is a good read and very thought-provoking.

"Our ends do not erase our beginnings."

The quote is significant to me because i, as well as many other people, wonder what the purpose of life is and question it's significance. I put this quote up as my senior quote and i had a lot of people telling me how profound it was and whatnot.

Only after disaster can we be resurrected(the narrator in Fight Club)

Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy **** we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off. (Tyler Durden)- Chuck Palanhuik

It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything- Narrator in Fight Club- Chuck Palanhuik

Fight Club is full of the memorable quotes.

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
-John Stuart Mill

You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something sometime in your life.

Written before the Nazi Regime...predicted the holocaust essentially "Christianity - and that is its greatest merit - has somewhat mitigated that brutal German love of war, but it could not destroy it. Should that subduing talisman, the cross, be shattered, the frenzied madness of the ancient warriors, that insane Berserk rage of which Nordic bards have spoken and sung so often, will once more burst into flame. This talisman is fragile, and the day will come when it will collapse miserably. Then the ancient stony gods will rise from the forgotten debris and rub the dust of a thousand years from their eyes, and finally Thor with his giant hammer will jump up and smash the Gothic cathedrals. (...)
Do not smile at my advice -- the advice of a dreamer who warns you against Kantians, Fichteans, and philosophers of nature. Do not smile at the visionary who anticipates the same revolution in the realm of the visible as has taken place in the spiritual. Thought precedes action as lightning precedes thunder. German thunder is of true Germanic character; it is not very nimble, but rumbles along ponderously. Yet, it will come and when you hear a crashing such as never before has been heard in the world's history, then you know that the German thunderbolt has fallen at last. At that uproar the eagles of the air will drop dead, and lions in the remotest deserts of Africa will hide in their royal dens. A play will be performed in Germany which will make the French Revolution look like an innocent idyll." --both from Heine

"The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today... is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and walk out the door and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is simply what an unbelieving world finds unbelievable"
--Brennan Manning
well translated

my favorite would be the one in my sig, but there was another one i read somwhere

"You can spend your whole life wondering and remeniscing, wanting to just stop time to reflect on your life, your wrongs and rights and whatifs and whatnots. This is an inevitable human trait. But, my adivce to you know is to live your life to the fullest now, while you still can, and when you are 70 years old in a retirement home, at least you'll have something to do."

To add to the Palahniuk quotes:
"Put a gun to my head and paint the walls with my brain." - Fight Club

"We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. the mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature." - Abraham Lincoln
