Without a mask
Does anyone know if it is safe to play paintball without a mask on, as long as you have proper eye-protection? I like paintball, but the masks get so annoying when they fog up.
Thanks

Have never met a place that would let you play without mask. It is insane stupidity to play with out one.

ALWAYS WEAR A MASK
You're going to get shot in the face and look like a humongous idiot with giant welts all over your face.

Plain and simple, buy a better mask. I've never had fogging issues except with el cheapo walmart masks.

I will tell you from experience, I have been playing off and on since the early 90's, before masks were required and I took a couple of hits from a friends Automag and it hurt like you can't believe. In this day and age it just not worth it to play without a full mask...

Get a mask with a thermal lens, I got an events and have only had trouble on the craziest weather days (super hot then pouring rain)
A bandana or sandana to keep the sweat from getting in the "eye area" of the mask will also help keep the fogging issue away.

Tell you what, we'll set up a national game! No masks for anyone, we'll all play free and see clearly. But how to make it safe, you ask? easy! We will only throw paintballs, no markers! (;

No, it is not sufficient to only have just eye protection (like goggles only). The mask covers your temples, nose, teeth and facial area. Imagine a blow to those areas without anything covering them.

People used to play with goggles... However it would hurt like hell getting hit and its probably unsafe as well.

In most states it is the law that you wear a mask that holds up to certain Specifications (sorry I dont remember the excact code)

Agreed with selling your gear
anyone who even thinks about playing without a mask or just goggles is in the wrong sport.
See excuse my rant thread.
This is the reason paintball gets a bad rep.

Necro thread.
For anyone wondering, paintball was once upon a time played with goggles only, then facemasks came to be, then ear protection was added, then goggles with no facemask or half-masks were around, then the industry smartened up and required full eye, face, and ear protection.
