Is there no rule that contact counts as out? I was playing once and ran out of paint and I just stood around to distract the person. Eventually he lost sight of me. I stood around and watched him from about 10 feet away. He had no idea I was there (don't know how) and everyone kept yelling at me to go touch him to get him out.

So I ran up to him and like "tagged" him with my hands.

I have no idea how legit that was. It was an Xball field with tournament teams, just not in a tournament. I simply did as I was told

all you people saying dry fire - one little tip: I don't dodge the sound of a gun, I dodge the paint.. if no paint is coming out of the end of the gun I am staying out to blow you up.
best thing to do is like the smarter people have already told you: if you're in a good vantage point (that is, you can see many bunkers on the field and won't get in too much trouble or get shot) then stay there and call out players/moves/and relay communications. if you are in the back, running around is OK, as is grabbing paint from friends. if this is a clutch situation in a tournament... don't be a ***** and just grab the paint off the ground - in most causes it is the same paint you've been shooting, and is quality paint that hasn't been sitting there for a long *** time. remove your hopper and one ball... so that you don't jam up your hopper with dirty *** paint.

book it to the other teams back left or right wichever is empty
and just dryfire in the back lol
it would distract the other team because u could just pick up paint and shoot them at anytime and they would have to completely turn around to even get a shot at you. easier to call positions too

just call out to a team mate for a pod, if they don't have one you can always be a distraction by jumping up and waving your arms around to grab attention then dropping back down and repeating the process from different angles. Worked with me the other day :p

get to the 50 or to their side of the field, all guns will most likely turn on you, just stay in talking to your teammates, have a code for this happening, like on my old team we just used to yell ditch as loud as we could, a few times, then try to get the flag in a tournament, or if it was just scrimming that person would just get to somewhere to have guns turn on them and stay in there.

I just Yell "BANG!". I actually had someone call themself out before... not joking.

If that doesn't work for you, do what some of these people said and stay in, you're still a live body. Call out positions, move up the field, draw fire, yell bang!, Win.

Shoot less, or bring more paint.

I agree with FatalKitty, I move and snap shoot depending on whether or not I hear paint hitting my bunker or passing by. One thing to do, when out of paint that is, is to run and gun at the same time - the sound-source movement coupled with a lack of incoming fire could mean that running is throwing off your aim, or that you're shooting at someone else's bunker for the moment. In any case, to stay put and dry-fire is risking letting the other team know that you don't have the means to protect yourself from perhaps another position, otherwise you'd have bumped up to it already, right?

One of the refs at my field was telling me about one time he was in a tourney. And in the middle of one game ha ran out of paint. So he got a handful of balls off the ground, then he dry fired his gun so someone would come to bunker him, then he threw the pbs in his hopper and shot him. lol

one time i was infront of the back center and my teammate was in the back right, he ran out of paint and called out for a pod. i threw a pod of paint his way and it bounced and got to him without opening up, it was pretty cool.

if you are on turf then pic paint up. its an art, you have to know how to pick paint up or else it does more harm that it does good.

If theyre from a new x-ball game, they should be pretty fresh. (most of those games only last like 3-5 mins)

I like to think of those as bayonet kills, and tags as knives. don't get me wrong i am not a mil-sim person, just kinda how i think about it.
